White LED Hobby Kit

I have 2. They are screw-type base, 3 LED 5600 Nichias (according to CCrane).

The reflector isn't too bad and the 12 foot reel up cord is pretty nice too. The magnetic base is mostly worthless. It comes with 3AA alkalines and a 3cell holder w/switch.

Not bad at all. I got my 2 on Ebay for $11 each (incl. shipping).

Search ebay for "led hobby"... I found only one auction today. Dutch, for 3 units.

Pretty vivious bidding on ebay. During the last 90 seconds, five people outbidded me and tied up the server so I could not respond. If anyone sees this kit come up again, hit the board with a notice. I guess if you snooze, you loose.

My, there`s another one ending on the 19th. Type in white led... you will see many individual Nachia led`s and groups as well... the kit is on page 2...better luck this time.

Well, they sort of do. ;-)

If you modify it a little bit, it fits fine.

See pics here.
2 pics pf screw-in base from CCrane

Wrapped a piece of paperclip around the threads. The Mag's screw on bulb holder grabs the ridges on the LEDs. Hold it in fine.

Not great though. You get 3 different beam spots and focusing doesn't do very much.

Without a resistor, it was pulling 50 ma. This is wierd unless there's a resistor in the base, too. Haven't taken the bulb apart yet. ;-)
