Who here likes triples? I love the beams and raw power you can get out of these. Share pics if you have them.

And here I thought this thread was going to be about a blonde, a brunette and a red head. . .

But seriously, never having used/owned one, what do you get out of a triple over a single? What does 3 LEDs do to the typical run times?

I have 3 triples!
Nichia 219, XP-G2 cool white & XP-G2 neutral.
Personally I feel that it is slightly floodier than a single XM-L2 w/ OP reflector.

ehh
im not a huge fan of them. i got my first triple drop-in this year, it had XP-G2 LEDs in them, and although i was very bright, it was just too floody. i swapped in some XP-E2 LEDs, which is still pretty floody, but with much less spill, and a little bit more throw. i think the bright spill causes too much glare.
the triples actually throw pretty well because of its shear power. but i prefer a more narrow beam pattern. but i do like the efficiency.

Just got my first triple, a Nichia 219 from EDC+. Man, I love this drop-in. The hotspot is HUGE, and because you're running each LED at a lower output level it's more efficient and produces less heat, at least for the low light levels I typically use.

I've got a few triples - the EDC+ Nichia triple is as great as everyone says - I also have an older Kerberos High CRI triple and a Tri-EDC.

I even have a triple triple :D

Here's my home brew triple. Nichia 219's, 3.04 amp driver set to 3 mode (LMH) runs from a 17670 in a stock 6P.

I like mine (Oveready), but it is far from a general purpose light for my requirements, and only sees specific use to light up my backyard to see what the dog is barking at. It does do that extremely well, however!

I love the brightness of triples, but the floodiness generally is a turn off for me. As bright as they are they just don't have enough throw. More of a WOW! thing than practical.

It's a Mac's 3300L. He stopped making them when Maglite decided to be a bunch of phalli and told him to stop turning their stone-age lights into modern masterpieces.

Mine has a stainless crenelated bezel and a Mag-sized SW01 mock tail cap. And 9 white trits in optics drilled out by Thatspec.
