i would like a 2AAA penlight with a pocket clip that has a cree in it......as far as i know, nobody makes one yet....WHY????

Get a Photon Freedom Microlight. Research these little lights. Amazing.
Makes old fashioned pen lights obsolete I believe...

I think that 2AAA is a bit of an awkward form factor, which is why it hasn't been very popular, especailly with the emitter type LEDs that are meant for larger applications. I personally prefer to carry 1xAA light, and 1AA will have more energy content than 2AAA. Also, the light will have a bigger reflector/better performance than a skinny pen light. There are some good options for 1xAAA though -- Fenix L0D CE sticks out as a very nice one for a portable light, suitable for keychain use.

Though 2xAAA probably wouldn't be much of a commerical success, that may be an interesting idea to try out as a mod.

Don't know why, but I'd sure like to buy one.

Seems like it'd be a no-brainer for Fenix, since they specialize in 1AAA lights. They should offer optional 2AAA body tubes, or just produce 2AAA models using their existing 1AAA heads.

I'm a big fan of the 2AAA form factor. 2AA is just a little too big and too heavy for easy pants pocketability and long term carry, for me at least. 2AA is too long and heavy to carry in a breast pocket, but 2AAA works well for this with a pocket clip.

A slim 2AAA light with a clip works great for me for everyday use. Can double the runtime of a 1AAA, and 2AAAs are better handling than 1AAAs. 1AAA lights are just too small and awkward handling for me to consider as anything but a keychain light.

2AAA lights with tail clickies can be superb task and general purpose lights, even being good for outdoor use. 2AAA lights with twisty head switches make good task lights.

I'll probably be getting a new Inova Bolt 2AAA soon, but unfortunately it's not a Cree.

Medical doctors do usually wear a 2xAAA incandescent always on the pocket, among dozens of pens of any imaginable color.

2xAAA (+ clip) is a good form factor for those who want to wear the light on the pocket of a shirt.

Fenix should offer a 2 AAA body for all of their AAA models. It's more profit for them, more satisfied customers, and very easy to do.

They might also consider some color options other than dreary black.

not to hijack the thread, but I prefer the steamlight styluses 3AAAA form factor over the 2AAA...but thats just me

I suppose the cree development hasnt gotten there yet...maybe if we wait patiently they might make one...
just like the time when people asked why were there no luxeon headlights when they first came out...:ohgeez:

I'd sure buy one. My 2aaa Nuwai with the pocket clip rides just right in my pants pocket, and being 2aaa it's long enough that it doesn't pop out. I think 2aaa is the perfect form factor for this type of carry.

Someone should make an aftermarket head that contains a Cree LED, a driver board and a reflector that replaces the stock head of a MiniMag 2AAA. There are millions of those bodies out there in need of a good light source. The runtime on the incan is horrendous. The new head could forgo the donut-filled adjustable focus 'feature' and be a lot smaller than the stock head. If the stock head wasn't so big it could be a simpler drop-in mod.

Has anybody tried to transplant Cree into Target River Rock 2AAA light. This has been a very popular $9.99 light and lately it has been on clearance for $4.99.

I don know, but I am pretty sure my next light purchase is going to be the 2 AAA Inova Bolt.

I use a Peak Baltic with the optional 2xAAA body and momentary switch in the tail. The stainless steel luxeon light has a pocket clip and is my EDC. Fits fairly well in a L2D CE holster or my front pocket.

Peak is working on a Seoul Semiconductor P4 U version and they should be coming out pretty soon. I plan on switching out my super ultra output version for a lower powered ultra version to keep heat down and runtime up. The only downer of the super ultra version (available in 5 power levels) the stainless version gets fairly hot and runtime is just over an hour or so with NiMH AAA cells.

Now that I think about it, maybe the reason I like my light so much is I work in a hospital. The doctors response when they borrow my "penlight" is priceless. Now for the Seoul version that will be 50% brighter and 50% longer runtimes to appear.
