Hi, wondering if it is possible to run the MN type of bulbs on 2 X C Li-ion by AW??

I'm specifically asking about the SF MN LA that are used in the non-turbohead types like in the M3.

What will be the difference between running this and 2 X 18650 besides a longer runtime offered by the 2 C cells?

Will 2 X C overdrive the bulb?

What sort of brightness levels are we talking about (lumens)?

I'm guessing their may be a slight overdrive involved at first, depending on what voltage the C batteries are at when you start out. I would think if you put two C's charged to 4.25V on an MN11, you might have a chance of blowing the bulb.:poof: But it's hard to say without experience in the matter. Now when I put two 17500's at that voltage on an MN10, I never have a problem.

I'm sure somebody by now has to have run the C's on the M6's HOLA, maybe they can chime in.

I run 1274 on 2C and 1185 on 3C, I have also used several other "Litho" bulbs with 3C and 2C batteries

if it works on 2x18650 it should work on 2x"C" li-ion... but IMO... invest in a good charging setup that lets you terminate charging a little earlier than 4.200... try 4.15V on these, considering the expensive cells and what-not, it would be wise to "take-it-easy" on them, anyways... lower peak voltage will not only reduce the likelihood of burning up lamps prematurely, but will increase cycle life of the cells dramatically.

I *think* leef was planning on a body with an M head that would take 2 of those cells, so if you had an M3 bezel, and one of the M3 lamps, it should work pretty well.. I think the MN11 would see some pretty serious overdrive, but could *probably* handle it.

I saw Leef's offering.. but its way beyond my budget... $175 for a 2 C light and that's not yet considering the bezel and the LA.... too rich for me.. :mecry: :mecry: :mecry:

What other 2 C body options do I have??

What about a MN20 or MN21.. can 2 C li-ion handle it??
it should work.
in fact, i'd love to own something like that. but probably way too expensive.
though less expensive then the M6, especially in the long run considering batteries.

I've read the body+tailcap is pretty expensive.
the KT4 isn't exactly the cheapest bezel ever either ;)
batteries are expensive.
there are no cheap chargers for the batteries, so you need one of the advanced ones.

total probably around $400.
