Hey guys dunno if any of you have tried it but will the V4 Q5 KD buckle work with a fully charged 10440 battery or will it blow the emitter?

It says on the web site Voltage input range (0.8V~3.2V) and since the 10440 are at like 4.2V where would I get a 3.2V battery?

has anyone tried it for prolonged periods of time? I'm wondering whether it might damage something

ok Well here goes nothing.. If I blow it i guess its only another $22 for a new one lol..

Ok so I put one in rated at 3.9V it turned on and no poof but I didn't dare to have it on for too long.. (10 secs max) and man is it bright lol!

Can anyone else comment I really want to know if its safe thought I can smell sumtan fishy when I took the head off to inspect.

Like we all know the Q5 can take the voltage, but weather the voltage regulation borad thingy is deisgned for excess of 3.2V I have no idea..

Why couldn't KD just make it accept up to 3.7V. Like whats the use of 3.2V if you can get a bettery rated at that.

3.7V not enough, should make it to 4.5V. Cause li-ion after charge, goes to 4.2V..
.

I did it with the V3 Seoul version. It burned out the boost circuit. Now it only works with a 10440. Fine with me. :)

well i risked it and put a 10440.
ran it for max of 10 sec as well, nice and bright, similar to the uf 602c with RCR123.
I didnt smell anything, so it seems that 10 secs didnt hurt, just wondering what the driver is doing.

How can we test whether this is safe to do or not?

Has anyone disassembled one?
if one of our more electronic savvy guys here can have a look at the components, they can say whether they can take a 10440.

maybe of of us owners can do it and post the pics here.
I'd do it buy i have too many lights in modding process leaving me with only my e01 in working order which is not bright enough :-(

Well ppl I've decided to leave the 10440 battery in there for EDC so lets see how things work out in the long run lol..

I guess its true that yes the Q5 LED can take 4.2V DD with no problems but what will it do to the booster circuit who knows.

I'll just have my fingers crossed that when the booster circuit detects above a certian voltage it switches off and goes to DD mode.

But yeah its heaps brighter probably like turbo mode in a fenix.

Does anyone have a light metre to test the lumens of the V4 running on the 10440.
