G'day all.

Just about to put together a 4x XR-E bike light and was wondering about the wiring.

Should I do the first or second drawing for a parallel wiring hooked up to a 1A Buckpuck then to a 14.8volt 4400mAh battery.

Ultimately I'd like to slot one pair into low mode with a dimming resistor (Done before on a triple Seoul light). I'm assuming I could do this on the first drawing and not the second ?

Cheers.

The two circuits are identical. You can put the resistor/switch on either of the middle wires.

However you might find the first easier to wire, putting the resistor on one of the + wires, maybe nearer the driver.
Thats what I did here.

Ah, cool thanks.

Is there much difference between 500mA and 1A in brightness ?

Question comes from my other lights which run 3 in series. Is that running at 1A or other ?.

I want maximum brightness without changing to a new battery since I've invested too much money in the two I have now.

Heat should be fine in the housing I'm making at 1A for a normal ride so heat isn't so much of an issue.

Cheers.

Tony.

Simplest way is to direct-drive all four in series - no buckpuck.
But I prefer to have two spotlights, and two broad beams, separately switchable. So preferably using two regulators.
