I took out the little pad in the magnet compartment of my Wizard Pro XP-L and the magnet now holds to metal significantly stronger.

I just bought an armytek wizard pro v3 xpl warm from Andrew and Amanda.
I have not seen reviews on this version on this site.

Is it that new of an offering? any preliminary opinions?

Version 3 is AT's current version, but the XPL flavor of the wizard is not the latest. The XHP50 version is and it has been available for some time. The latter appears to be more efficient, at least on paper.

So xpl and xhp are the led.
I am learning so forgive me...:)

More efficient meaning what?
-less heat?
-less power consumption for output?

Yes, those are the LEDs. The XHP models, as advertised, pump out more lumens, and for longer than the XPL models.

On the wizard pro the button flashes green once every 5 seconds or so in main mode. It seems to do this regardless of battery capacity.
I have read the manual but looking for a broader understanding of the clicky button and its colors and features

NCR18650GA and LG LG2 (10A).Forget the NCR18650B (5A). No issues with my 2 Wizard XHP. Check your PM for a deal on HKE with a code.

Thanks brother. Took me a minute to figure it out but placed the order for a warm. Going over to illumination supply for batteries. I think they have some hi draw protected 18650 over 7A or might just run naked. I had great luck with the Tiara so hope this will be a winner. Anyone test it with CR123 in the lower modes. Probably use the 100 lumen (incorrectly show as 40) more when winter hiking.

I think either one will power it on turbo not that I would use that mode much but in the case of the protected batteries would hate to trip the protection and then have the light keep doing it aka need to put in primaries or unprotected battery to reset the mode. I have a feeling some of the early video problems shown on youtube might have been battery related.

Also need a new charger as going to mix up the NiMH and Lithium ions one of these days so gotta get one that does both.

Xtar VC4 Li-ion, NiMH/NiCd USB Charger

Just got the light. I didn't get my batteries yet from the other seller though they are checking with USPS so using a KP 3200 protected standard (no high drain near as I can tell). Info based in just messing around with it aka just got it.

1. Warm tint is fantastic.

2. Stupid bright on turbo 1 or 2. I mean holly wow! Just wow. Easily beats the AA Tiara pro running lithium ion. Amazing. Will try again one I get the naked high drain 18650 but can't imagine it could get any brighter. Bigfoot is in trouble now!

3. Firefly 3 seems really nice. Lower than M1 on the Tiara but higher than a normal firefly mode. Should be great around camp.

4. Main 1 seems to be the 30 (maybe 40 at most) lumens in the manual. Maybe they changed things but I don't see a 100 lumen mode as some people measured. I always liked 30-40 lumens and was disappointed a bit that M2 on the Tiara was 70. I can do the same stuff with 30 as 70 but get more runtime. The Tiara M2 is brighter than new wizard M1. I will try it with more batteries once the naked and higher drain protected show up.

5. They provided a manual which is good however there is a typo in the output. The 1.5 lumen mode is 40d however so it the 5.5 lumen mode listed as 40d. My guess it should be 6-7 days not 40.

Hope it survives the dunk in the stream test etc next week.

Awesome, hope it ends up being reliable for you!

Hope so as well cuz taking it out on its first night hike to evaluate the modes!

Edit hiked with it last night. The M1 does seem like 3-40 lumens per the manual not 100 as listed in some online shops and statements on CPF by some users. The light was a joy to hike with. Will have to test again for brightness using other batteries once they come in.

Tested it out against a C1 XM-L2 in M2 vs HXP50 Wizard V3 M1. Both warm. No way the Wizard M1 is 100 lumens. Any it really appears to be 30 or so lumens like the manual states. Anyone else verify this? Also there might be a problem with that mode. The light seems to have a micro flash when the green power LED goes off aka the main led matches that for a split second. I noticed it the other day but thought it was my imagination. It's so fast if yea blink I miss it but if not my eye catches it. Going to charge the battery to make sure it's not that. If it continues it will be unacceptable as it's distracting. The main LED shouldn't flash at the same time as the green led. Will charge the battery and test again tomorrow. Sometimes issues are battery related.

Edit. Edit. Ok it seemed better after battery change or maybe it was visual feed back from the green flashlight light. Not sure but will keep an eye on it. Dang tint is really nice! The head is a bit different from the Tiara so I wonder if that in anyway is allowing me to see the green flashing light in rooms etc during operation though never remember seeing it with the Tiara. Is anyone seeing a very slight (but sometimes noticeable) flash on M1 mode in lights which have the M1 30 lumen mode.

Dang. I think the main LED does flash on M1. Using it now with battery fresh off charger. It's like a flicker when the green light fires. Dang. Might have to call Armytek.

Same behaviour of main Led during M1 runs and on Fireflies modes Indicator Led flickers very weakly.

I don't envy anybody who has to deal with armytek for replacement or repair. I had to jump through so many hoops and send them video in order to get mine replaced with my previous generation wizard. Love my Wizard Pro though so in some ways it's worth it. "HASSLE FREE"..... not so much

Nope. Not going to accept it as is. I despise flickering lights and this one is doing it just at the edge of my perception which makes me blink. I noticed it during a first outing testing but couldn't put my finger on what was wrong. thought it was my imagination. I do night bouldering and sometimes climbing. I can't afford any distractions. Dang it's the prefect headlamp in terms of modes and tint. LOL! Here is how it was tested to determine the flicker as it's so fast and timed directly with the green indicator light I wanted to rule out the output from that interfering with the determination.

Tested with these batteries to eliminate battery issues.

As for the indicator light on firefly it would only blink on the highest firefly setting which is 5 or so lumens. That is ok as it's not needed for the very low modes however it would blink 3 times then stop blinking. I don't really care about that issue as never found that feature useful anyways but dang. I mean dang. A flickering headlamp. Nope. Not doing that.

No way this issue will show up on video. A very fast micro flicker going in sequence with the indicator light. Slight enough to be annoying but not sure if it would show up on video. Wonder if that will increase the 'HASSLE FREE" thing. LOL!
