Wolf-eyes m90x problem

I have a wolf-eyes M90X and it recently started to act up. It has been working great for months. (purchased from PTS)

The light refuses to turn on now in any way. I have tried several combinations.

3x165 with extender and the 12v or 13v bulb. It would not run with the lumens factory HO-13 bulb either. If I throw it on the charger it does not respond. (IE the lamp does not glow, and the light on the charger stays green instead of turning red to charge)

I also tried the 12v and 13v lamp's with 4x123 primaries. Same thing, no output.

Could the tailcap have a problem with it? Seems odd that the 165 batteries do not charge properly, and also primaries don't work. I have mainly been using the 13v lamp and the lumens factory lamp. The 12v lamp was just sitting in the box so it is perplexing that that one doesn't work with the primaries either.

Any ideas?

If I remove the bezel and compress the lamp assembly by hand it turns on. So it looks like maybe not enough contact is being made?

Is there an o-ring or something similar that might have fallen out of the bezel that would compress the lamp assembly against the battery?

The only things I could suggest:
1 Make sure the threads are clean and lubricated on the tailcap and bezel
2- Confirm the tailcap and bezel are completely screwed down.
3- Make sue the spring on the lamp assembly is long enough to reach the battery.

I removed the bezel, lamp assembly, batteries, and tailcap. Cleaned and lubricated the threads. Placed lamp assembly, bezel, batteries, and then tailcap in that order. If I lightly shake it, there does not seem to be any movement. It does not turn on.

But if I remove the bezel and compress the lamp with my hands it turns on. It is the stock 12v lamp assembly. If I swap it out for the 13v lamp assembly that comes with the recharge kit I experience the same issue.

Now there is a real small gap between the body and the part the bezel screws on to. Is that a removeable part that perhaps became losened?

What brand and size of batteries are you using? Also, if you can post a a few pictures of the head end of the light, that would be worth a thousand words . Also, if you would, try slowly screwing the bezel down on to the head of the light with a lamp assembly installed--does it get tight all of a sudden, or does it gradually build more and more resistance to further tightening--that might be helpful to know.

Sorry to hear you're having trouble--WE make great lights. I'm sure that between everyone here we can sort it out--there are a lot of knowledgable folks around here.

Thanks for the PM Mike. It did seem like the piece the bezel screws in was not all the way seated against the body, but I will double check when I get home.

The batteries I am using are 3x wolf eyes 2200mah 168 (with the 168 extender). I also have a set of 3x wolf eyes 150 rechargable batteries with the 150 extender that are new in box never opened. (I also have some surefire brand 123A primaries)

When I slowly screw the bezel on with the lamp in place, it feels the same as I screw it down. There is no increase in resistance as I get the bezel down farther. It doesn't feel like it make much contact with the front of the bezel glass.

It does sound from what you say that the problem is almost certainly at the bezel end, but it is worth just checking that the extender (150 or 168) is screwed down pretty tight to the body, or it may not make a proper contact. Same thing with the tailcap to the extender.

Yea...since when you push it down, it lights, the circuit through the tail cap and extender should be fine. But as DM51 pointed out, its worth talking a look--use a multimeter to test for continuity throughout the light to try and find where the break is. Im sure Mike at PTS is also helping you out--he's a great guy to deal with.

Try this:
1- Remove the batteries.
2- Install the lamp assembly and screw on the bezel.
3- Shake the flashlight to see if there is any rattles.

If there is any rattles then the bezel is not pressing against the lamp assembly, and possibly the lower section of the bezel assembly is loose and needs to be screwed down further. With the bezel tightened down the lamp assembly is a solid fit.
Try holding the battery tube section and the bezel assembly and twist it clockwise to see if it moves.

Any news, Johan? It would be interesting to know what was causing this.

It appears as if the part the bezel screws on to has come up a little bit off the body. At one point I was making sure the bezel was tight and felt some movement between the bezel and the body.

Mike@PTS has offered to replace it under warranty. I am going to be sending it in.

I have all Surefire Incan's and I was undecided on what to buy next but, I think Mike just made my decision for me. Nice job Mike.

BTW, Mike do you see a HOLA option becoming available for the M300 anytime soon?

Yes, thanks Mike for helping me out on this issue. The flashlight is already in the mail and you should receive it soon.

Please let me know when you get it. Thanks!

Just got the replacement today. Works great! Mike replaced the body and now it works much better.

Thanks Mike for the quick service! :grin2:
