Words to Live By.

Do not look for luxury in watches or bracelets, do not look for luxury in forks or sails.

Luxury is laughter and friends, luxury is rain on your face, luxury is hugs and kisses.

Don't look for luxury in shops, don't look for it in gifts, don't look for it at parties, don't look for it at events.

Luxury is being loved by people, luxury is being respected, luxury is having parents alive, luxury is being able to play with your grandchildren, luxury is what money can't buy,

You know what's truly upsetting to an obscene degree?
The fact that yes, ALL of those things described as being true "luxuries," are just that; Luxuries.

Used to be a time they weren't luxuries. With the exception of the 3rd to last one.... All of those were just Basics in Life for anyone willing to work hard and make something of themselves. Something one could expect to eventually earn. Now.... those are luxuries in Life.

Speaking of luxeries:

Those who are smart think they know everything. Those who are wise know that they don't. The wise are more knowledgeable. Never trust your life decisions to someone who claims to be smart.

Those who are smart think they know everything.

That's an 'ok' way of putting it HOF, but importantly, do keep in mind that by no means is everyone who "knows it all" smart at all, and they can be the most dangerous of all. That's an important distinction. They can be even worse than the smart ones that think they know it all. Bottom line: anyone who thinks they know it all is a fool. How's that for simplicity;-)

My father often told me "never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience".
Having met a few idiots in my life, I remember those words. So I just smile and nod politely. And quietly hope they'll soon go away and bother someone else.

I wonder why the idiots, for however clever they must think they are, never learns the wisdom of the words "it's better to be silent and be taken a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt".

Why? Because they're idiots.
If they were actually smart, they'd know better.

The only one who knows it all is God. Watch out for those that think they know it all and deny there is a God. They're the most dangerous of all. The road to hell is paved with good intentions, usually by those lost, purposely ignoring the map to heaven.

"The fool says in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; there is no one who does good."-Psalm 14:1

These "smart" people deny God's existence and power yet have the audacity to declare they are the ones to turn to to bring peace to the planet and control the weather by reducing global warming. They want to be a replacement for God. Remember, it's smart people that brought us gun powder, dynamite, nuclear bombs, and Covid.

Gun power - Good 👍

Dynamite - Good 👍

Nuclear Bombs - Good the one time they were used. 👍

Covid - Not good. 👎 👎
Gun powder brought us guns allowing us to kill people at a far greater rate than swords and knives.

Dynamite brought us explosives so we could kill more people than guns.

Nuclear bombs brought us the ability to wipe out the entire planet in minutes. Look up salted cobalt 60 nuclear bomb. Has a half life of over 5 years and takes 110-130 years for the planet to be habitable again. Russia's Sarmat II hypersonic ICBM can carry a payload of up to 50 MT or up to ten smaller bombs each (each missile can wipe out Texas). Russia's Poseidon torpedo can act as a nuclear powered drone carrying 100 MT each. They can be sent where wanted, then wait there undetected for however long until detonated. These can be placed in series across a coastline to cause a nuclear mega tsunami. Still think nuclear bombs are good?

Covid and other human modified viruses have the potential to eliminate large swaths of the human race.

The intention in creating these things was good. Even working on Covid, they were researching viruses to find cures. Once you open Pandora's box, it's hard to put things right.

Not going to disagree that gunpowder has allowed for the safety of some individuals as a force multiplier as it relates to guns allowing the weak to defend against a strong aggressor. Still, countless millions have been killed since the discovery of gunpowder.

Yes, dynamite has had it's advantages. Yet, the creator regretted it's destructive potential enough to start the Nobel Peace Prize.

Nuclear bombs have the potential to destroy our planet, or if we aren't too stupid using them to kill everyone over scarce resources, can give us limitless clean nuclear power to help preserve our way of life.

Research into viruses can help us find an end to the worst diseases or come up with new ones to finish us off.

The problem is we have a sinful nature that is prone to use these things that could help us, but may destroy us instead. The smartest minds in the world mostly don't turn to God but to their own understanding of what is right and wrong for evaluating applications of new technologies. This is why the Bible refers to these people as fools.

Every year in America, significantly more people use guns to defend themselves against violent, 2-legged predators. Than those predators use against innocent victims. Without guns, those who are physically strongest, most aggressive, and most violent would utterly dominate and decimate those who are physically weaker.

I'd rather not live in a world where a physically weaker woman is too afraid to break up with her steroid-popping abusive boyfriend because she has no equalizer. No means of defending herself against his size and physical dominance if he decides to reject her rejection of him. And, that's coming from someone who is 6'1'' 270 pounds and can physically dominate a woman if I wanted to. Thankfully I was raised with strong morals. Some men were not.

Edit: Typo.
