How to stop wrecks in the snow:

My father told his kids to,

"Drive like there is an egg under your foot."

As long trips in very bad winter weather were drawing to a close when we hit our street, he'd hit the gas and make the car fishtail with the whole family in the car. We said, Weeeee. He was obviously releasing the pressure valve in his head after a tense couple of hours of close concentration.

My first rule of winter driving is that if you fall down on the way to the car, it is too slippery to drive.

Prayer before bedtime on school nights when the snow is accumulating very fast, or is it going to be icy, "..., and please God, let the principal slip and fall, but not get hurt when he goes out in the morning."
