got it working but it has an oddness
anyway, first the piccies
I etched the board by toner transfer after designing it in KiCad, single sided of course ;-
Then soldered it by hotplate reflow, where hotplate is a 5mm chunk of Al on a gas burner.
When its sitting on the bench you can really get a sense of the size of the driver IC 3mm by 3mm.
The sunnies are there because we kept seeing spots when we were testing it.
NFI what the LED is, came in some cheapy torch.
After only one false start it worked! (soldered the damn LED up backwards lol).
running off 2X AA's it seemed to be current limited to around .3 A or so
so I got a bigger battery holder and added another AA cell and that seemed to fix it.
looks like the switchmode side of things is working well
now to the trouble
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TwGY4sqFeNI
when I take the driver to full power it latches into that mode and wont come out till I either remove the power, or pull enable low. It has been abused a bit, reflowed twice, not particularly static safe handling.
Any suggestions?
