Would a mini maglite 2aaa be able to handle this?

I'm thinking of grabbing my 2aaa mini maglite and bore out the reflector a bit to make it wide enough to stick in an SL twintask 1L bulb in there. I'm going to be using 600-700 nimh batts in there so i should be able to get a good 1/2hr runtime on intense white light from this tiny thing. My question is would this be a neat mod and would the aaa's be able to handle the drain of this 2.4v 1.0amp bulb?
