Would I be disappointed by the E1E?

Just wondering as I never had a quality incan, but I am considering the E1e Surefire. With a Lumen's Factory 90 lumen drop in, will it compare in brightness to say my nitecore EX10 or nitecore extreme? The runtime on the extreme isn't that much (about 30+ minutes on RCR123's) and looks like the lumen's Factory drop in is rated at about the same runtime (don't know if that is really how they are) so I don't think that would be a big difference, its mostly the brightness I was wondering about. Can any of you guys that already own such a set up let me know? Your two cents are greatly appreciated.

I think the E1e with a 90 lumen (LF rating) would be pretty nice, should be very throwy with a WIDE dim sidespill. I think the E1e makes a better around the house chores with a 40 lumen bulb or even less with a diffuser. It's a very tight spot with relatively dim spill, very odd beamshape imo.

No, the e1e with that LF bulb isn't as bright as the EX10. It's still a nice light for a 1 cell incan but I think the E2E is a better all around package with more options.

^^this^^

I got a 1-cell extender for mine and it opened up all sorts of avenues:
17670 for >1hr on an EO-E1R (90lm)
2x(IMR)16340 for sheer, unadulterated output (IMR-E2 (350lm))

then throw an E2C adapter into the mix...

I don't know, I would like to try incans but sounds like if you like the single RCR123 format, incans just can't compete for brightness/throw with any sort of runtime, is that right (at least as far as the E1E we are discussing and drop in bulbs for it). I'll be honest with you, I have messed around with some quality incan weapon lights (Glock, Streamlight, ect.) and was not very impressed with runtime/brightness/tint, and they ran on TWO 123CR's and cost quite a bit. My Nitecore D10 or EX10 threw further, had more spill, and better run time than those lights, which is why I wish they made a quality LED weapons light, but those seem few and far between for now (except the TLR-1 C4, which is larger than I prefer, but at least Streamlight is trying). EDIT: Hey, just noticed the TLR-3 the have coming out. Small and bright, I'm interested!

Dissappointed?
I guess that depends on what your expectations are, and what you'll be using the light for.

I personally never liked the e1e; too small for my comfortable use, shorter runtime & not as bright compared to 2x123 lights.

I think you meant E1e :duh2:

The E1e is best with a Strion socket and an IMR 16340 if you ask me, otherwise the E2e is a much better option - brighter and more bulb choices.

Yeah the cell extender turns it into a 2 cell which is where all the abundant options are. If a person is looking for 2 cell options sometimes I think it's better just to start with one.

btw, which E series 2 cell bulb produces 350lm?

I just like the size, combined with the decent output (50 Lumens with one of the LF bulbs) combined with about half an hour runtime on one RCR123.

OK, the number of accessories may be small, but this is a REAL EDC-light because of its size. The E2e is, in my opinion, too large to EDC.

No, I doubt the LF 90 lumens lamp will compare to EX10 on max. You also can't fairly compare runtimes on incans with LEDs.

Right now I have an E1E with a LF HO-E1R (50 lumens) and an E1E with a SF MN01. I can tell you that the LF lamps are brighter.

In terms of whether you'll be disappointed with it, hard to say. With the 90 lumens EO-E1R, it'll probably be closer to the output of a P60 in a G2/6P.

If you're looking for maximum output, you can stick with LEDs.

One thing is that the longer you're in this hobby, the more you come to appreciate a that high output is not everything. I'm starting to very much appreciate my E1e with a MN01 walking around at night around the house.

definitely depends on how you judge it.

You won't find an incan bulb as efficient as a modern LED. And in small packages, LEDs have really closed the gap and over-come in both raw output and runtime.

In this size class [e1e] you don't own the incan because it wins on paper, you own the incan because it pleases you in some other way.

Yep. Ya got your lights for throw, the barn burners, the programmables, the militarys, the 4-die flood blasters, the keychain lights, and there's also definitely a place for the little E1e incan with 30 to 60 lumens or so. I can certainly see upgrading the E1e lamp a bit to a somewhat brighter Lumens Factory lamp and being very content with it at that. I think the LF HO-E1R would be just about the right mix of brightness and runtime in the E1e. 50 lumens for 50 minutes on an RCR123.

No point trying to make one light do it all... none can. That's the fun part, and why we have so many flashlights on our desktop!

I still use mine. The baby SureFire still makes me smile.

Rugged case with smooth, full spectrum beam that surpasses that of many others cannot be denied.

Well the answer is NO! I am NOT disappointed in the E1e that I got today. With the EO-E1R lamp running on 3.6V RCR123A batteries, it's very bright with beautiful beam. Throw is on par with my EX-10 GD, and brightness isn't that much behind it. Man, I love the warm color of that EO-E1R, its just so nice compared to the "cold" beam of most of my LED lights. I also bought a KX1 dual output cree head for my E1e. With the LED head installed, running on 3.0V Soshines, the little light is also great. On high its not that much behind the EO-E1R and on low its still very useful. Works fine on both low and high with the 3.0V Soshines by the way, no strobing or flickering ect. I love the fact this light is not picky on battery size. Using the LF bulb, it used protected AW, UltraFire, and TrustFire all equally well, while my EX-10 will only fit the AWs, as the other protected cells are just a tad too long for it to work well with them. At night comparing the E1e to a EX10-GD I was very happy with the E1e using either head. It has great throw, larger spill, and is close enough in brightness to the EX-10 that I am not unhappy at all. I was really expecting more of a difference between them, but the little surefire must make the most of its lumens, as it seems little different in actual use outdoors or indoors. By the way, I had a septic tank "emergency" tonight, pumper guy came at 9 PM or so, and I got to use my new E1e with the incan head for about 45 minutes, and then the LED head for about an hour on high, in light freezing rain no less while we worked! It's one nice little light, I am glad I tried it:twothumbs You guys should have just told me how nice this light is!
