Would this be a heatsink or not... ?

This Philips Living color has been on our bookshelf for a while. And just few weeks ago I noticed that there would be a nice looking heatsink.

Well, the flashlight itself is still in my daydreams. But if there someone who could use this idea it would be nice to see the result.

Here is comparison shot with Maglite C and D to get the idea of the size.

BTW Philips consumer service allready said that they are not sellling those lamps in parts
The lamp is priced at ebay appro.x 220 usd
This lamp of mine was a christmas present to my wife

If the part is metal [aluminum preferred] then perhaps, but for $220 its a rather pricey idea.

Looks quite alot like aluminium to me. Indeed its pricey but if you find a used or defect one in ebay - voilá !
