WOW......1000 lumen flashlight

Interesting concept, but 30 minute run is not very practical for this kind of light. But most concepts need development before they become practical.

I've seen that before. I think Arcmania made it and I saw it over at Custom Light Factory. It was like $500 and was limited in numbers.

Are this flashlight still avaliable? Interesting, but what is the run time on full 1000 lumens? Is there any specfication and details on this make?

I've got one of these lights from ARCmania, mine runs off of 4 x CR123's (Duracell Ultras). I've run mine over an hour continuous on high with no problems.

there were only a limited number of these lights made I think 15. Unfortunately there aren't available.

Yeah, looks like Arcmania's handiwork.

No doubt the O-star is a very capable LED (it has 4 to 6 dies, of course it is), something like the Lux V vs Lux III of the past.

But usually heat and focusability are the issues with such an LED. The beamshape isn't really too important in real world use, but just for the whitewall hunters, anyone have whitewall beamshots of that 1000 lumen light? Just to understand how the beam pattern is like?

When the technology reaches a point where a light of that brightness reaches a five hour runtime, costs around $100, and uses readily availably Ni-Mh or Li-Ion cells, I'll be lining up to buy. ;)

Hmmm...My Surefire M6 runs only for 20 minutes on 8 batteries. This light has 4 different modes and runs 30+ minutes on turbo mode(1000 lumen), which makes the M6 look like a 1W luxeon...not to mention no worries of insta-flash!

I think I ended up buying the last one Arcmania made so none left as far as I know.

Flavio

This just cracks me up. I have a daily used 240 lumen light that is ONLY useful out past 50ft. It's about as impractical as they come. It's really only a defense/spotlight unit. This light is 1000! It is only good for one thing, runtime is not generally a problem with something of this nature. I doubt anyone who's ever used or been shined upon with 1000 lumens was thinking "man that's bright... I just wish it'd last longer" Typically it's just more like "Oh my cripes!" and that's it

Here is a shot against a U2.

Nice spot with tons of flood.

The beamshots referenced in the first post are a good illustration of how much LEDs suck for outdoor use, no matter how powerful they are...

You can't really tell the difference between green leaves, yellow leaves, and branches. It all becomes a washed out low contrast greenish mass. Now compare that to the M6 beamshots...

Now that I got it off my chest... Where do you buy those 15W Ostars?

when you look close at the pictures, you will see that they are not shoot in the same night. The Tree/busches to the lower left are trimmed in the M6 photo and a different car is parking in front of the mobile-home...
It looks like another season too...
I know that colorrendition is not the best with LEDs but this strange?

here ya go guys.. I posted some pics and a very short review on my SF-V over on knifeforums. the photos were ALL taken on the same night in succession so the M6 was taken right before the SF-V of the same year on the same night.

* disclaimer * as I said on the photo's I had to point the SF-V downward to show the "hotspot" on the tree otherwise it will light up my entire back yard.
