Basically shot in the dark, almost certain this isn't going to happen. Looking for one of the old torchlab/oveready/moddoolar Wasp heads (I think this is v5?) Basically the coolest host I've ever seen and I'd love to figure out how well it does or doesn't work. If you have one that you're willing to part with PM me thanks!

I don't have one anymore, but it didn't seem to be any better than the v5 P60 shell I have from them. They look cool though.

I'm interested solely for the cooling as my understanding is that p60's biggest issue is that it doesn't cool as well as other dedicated platforms? Do you remember if the holes affected its water resistance?

I regret selling mine. Dan talked about another run years ago but it never happened.

The firmware version on these heads had a weird timing issue with mode switching. It got resolved a few months after they were released.

That's what I meant, the wasp head didn't seem to offer any superior cooling benefits over the P60 version. The holes shouldn't affect the water resistance since it's a solid piece. But I never paid much attention to water resistance when I had it. If you like the look you should try to get one, they are an interesting looking light.

Just to make sure: Are you aware you can´t put the WASP heads on a standard C/P/Z series Body? You´ll need one of their bodies too (Moddoolar bodies if I recall correctly). Also, I don´t think the WASP heads were v5 but 3 Modes. Not a 100% sure on that though.

Heres a link to one of Oveready´s old insiders that has a few infos regarding heat: https://www.oveready.com/insiders/insider-55-moddoolar-wasp-head-pocket-pocket-zrs-z32-tool/

Cheers
Eric
No, I was absolutely not aware, thanks for the heads up! I have a moddoolar tailcap so I guess I'll just get a tube then on top of that.

The P60 version run just fine. I'm using one (XPG2) in a Malkoff MD4 with a Malkoff head that I modified the retaining ring on and made a heat sinking sleeve to remove the air gap around the drop in and be able to use a lens in front of the optic also.
Works great, been used on extended runs (2x18650) with no step downs or heat issues.

Just to expand, I've never had issues with P60 bodies either, even with FET driven quads. If you put them together right the heat sinking is excellent.

The great thing about those Oveready drop-ins is the ability to run two cells. My Malkoff/Oveready hybrid is an amazing light.
Finding parts might be an issue, which is why I used Malkoff, but if you can find the Oveready/Moddoo parts you can put one together without the fettling I had to do.

Dang that's super sick. I'll keep my fingers crossed that Oveready isn't just circling the drain and is able to get out another drop of wasp heads or something. But I haven't seen anything from them in about a year now...

Still have my wasp head - that's on the do not sell list (but I haven't used it lately...)

I did have a VanIsleDSM (think I have name right) P60 Quad that went out on high temp (it was in a holster on high), think it was ~250C internal temp that it tripped at. Reset itself and it's fine.

Lucky! I wasn't in the flashoholic game when they released it. If you ever change your mind on this and want to sell hit me up.

Unfortunatelly judging from their announcement from 12/24/24 on their website it doesn´t look that way:

Dear Customers,

It's been our joy and honor, providing your lighting needs throughout the years. With both health and logistics challenges, our ability to serve you is curtailed. We intend to keep the lights on, shipping from our remaining inventory. But for the foreseeable future, have had to cut back on both production and development.

So we are still fulfilling orders, but with a reduced schedule. You can order clips, orings, and other parts. But new products, announcements for them, and restocking of electronic and cnc intensive components will remain in hibernation.

Our time and energy to support products is also diminished. Please contact TorchLab, LUX-RC, and other companies directly, for support with their products. Our customer communities are also still active on places like Facebook.

Thank you,
Team Oveready

Thanks for sharing that Eric242. That is sad, especially for us P60 platform fans out there. Vinh at SkyLumen and Lumens Factory and who else keeping it going??

I've bought some quality stuff to make high powered quads from Mountain Electronics.
Single cell only though.
The joy in the Oveready drop ins is the two cell action (2x18650, in my case).

Thanks for the heads up. TBH I got the sense they were running on embers based on their release frequency, mixed feelings to hear an official confirmation.
