I've asked several times for such a comparison but no one seems to have an XP-G version AND an XP-L version...

Re: WTS: D25Cvn V3 Ti - The Micro Searchlight (Must Have)

I got the same and love the output and tint. I tend to prefer neutral tints and was worried the 5700k would be too cool for my tastes but unless you compare it directly to a truly neutral or warm emitter, it's not noticeably cool so I quite like it. Worth it for the gobs of lumens!
That's crazy. I have a 4000k XP-L (not in this light) and it is noticeably cool. I'll probably swap it out in the future.

Whoa! Really? That's very odd be 4000k should be straight up WARM

Its slightly purple. It's less cool than my 6500k purple XP-G Preon 2, 6500k XP-G M2A, and 6500k XM-L QP2L-X. But cooler than all of my 4000k, 4500k and 5000k emitters.

It's in the side of a C21Cvn. I was thinking maybe that could be caused by the black reflector (not sure what to call it). I thought about painting it white to see if that made a difference in tint (may help with overall output as well).

Bummer, could the led have been mixed up somehow with a cool one? I agree 4000k shouldn't be anything but WARM

Does this light maintain the function of stock UI after the mods? i.e. the twisting of the head and clicking of switch to secure mode memory?

No. This light has a brand new driver with only 4 modes and whether the head is tight or loose doesn't matter. No mode memory either.

Re: WTS: D25Cvn V3 Ti - The Micro Searchlight (Must Have)

I think Vinh offered it with mode memory

That's the way mine arrived but it was inconsistent coming on in ML

So after some correspondence with Vinh I removed a solder blob from the driver and I now have three levels with memory

Well in post #1 he only lists two UIs and there is no mode memory mentioned, that's why I said that. I HATE mode memory so I'm very glad it's not even an option. I want to always know what mode my light will turn on in even if I haven't touched it in weeks.

Yours is a unique one. Most others has 4 modes without memory.

Re: WTS: D25Cvn V3 Ti - The Micro Searchlight (Must Have)

Well I didn't get Vinh to polish mine and I was starting to regret it so I went ahead and polished it myself this afternoon using some Mother's metal polish. I spent a good hour on it because I wanted it very shiny and perfect. I used painters tape to cover the lens and removed the clip, then went to town. When I was reinstalling the clip I noticed that the curved section where the screws go through didn't perfectly match the curvature of the light (i.e. there was a small gap between the clip and light on one side when the screws were installed). I had noticed this once before as well so since it was already removed, I threw it in my vice and bent it a tiny bit at a time (took 6 times) until it now fits PERFECTLY. The last photo shows how well it matches up now. The hardest part of the polishing was removing the residue from around the rear clicky and the lanyard and clip screw holes. I ended up having to remove the rear clicky assembly in order to get all the residue out, it took like 15 minutes though.

Re: WTS: D25Cvn V3 Ti - The Micro Searchlight (Must Have)

Takes a long time to polish one. I got 2 customers complained that I charge too much for polishing. One said I come up with all these nonsense options such as polishing to make money. One said the light can't stay shinny for long so it would be a rip off. I never suggested he should buy the option too...its hard to make everyone happy.

It's a shame you have these arguementitive whingers that hang around your sub forum.

I'll be honest, Vinh, I thought $20 was a bit steep but after doing it, I absolutely do NOT think it's overpriced, actually right on the money!

If they complain it's too much, they can do it themselves like me! $5 for some polish and ~1 hour of their time :-)

Yessir! Vinh "matted" it for me, I don't like the clip being polished so he scuffed it up some. Not sure how but I assume a brillo pad or something similar.

Perfect way for no one to get 'ripped off' is that if they think it's too expensive, they do it themselves and quit whining about it.

I mean personally if I don't want to pay $20 to have a light polished, I'm in my own rights to polish it myself. Then after I'm done I can ask myself how little I'm willing to do it for. Nothing wrong with not wanting to pay the $20, but there is definitely something wrong with trying to whine the price down.
