Here is the Game Plan:

Kaidomain has 30 SBT-70 in stock. I suspect these aren't the max brightness ones but ordered one anyways. If these turn out to be equivalent to the SBT-70 I pulled from my TM36 then we are good. I will buy their stock and make SBT-70 an option. Otherwise the SBT-70 is gone forever as Lumnius is not making them anymore. At least someone told me that.

At the price those LEDs cost I don't think you have to worry about them flying off the shelf, either. :)

No. IPX6. Whatever that means. I guessing light rain is ok. But no dunking

Should resist heavy seas and similar. Test involves 3 minute direct jet of water from 1/2 inch nozzle at around 1 bar pressure. Although they may have updated the standard, it's been a few years since I've done any IP testing.

Light rain would be IPX4 :)

I dare to say that this is one of the best utility lights out there. If you need to concentrate the light in one point ( improving throw) you have this option.

If you need to ilumimate a big area ( compromising throw) you have this option.

Just with one flashlight in a portable package!!
What I find very interesting if you compare a reflector light vs the optics on this light is that it spread very even the light so is very easy for the eyes to get used to vs a reflector light with hotspot / flood at dirrerent intensities requiring a high dinamic range that the eye cannot deal with it (you focus on the hotspot and the surroundings turn dark, or you focus on the flood and be blinded by the hotspot).
Also as a tactical flashlight if you enter a room everybody inside that light circle will be blinded at the same time. That means that using just 1 flashlight you can neutralize multiple threats. If they move as long as they are inside the circle it seems that the flashlight is "chasing" them. I think that tactical effect is called 'Force Multiplier" In a nutshell the light is extremely practical. "Must have" like Vihn would say.

Severus, thanks for the words, and especially the beamshots! Definitely looks great. Now, if only I had money to buy it...where have I heard that before?

I can't decide which model to get :) I was holding out for the SBT-70 so, I guess I'll wait and see what Vinh has to say about it when he gets it.

So I just got a couple of SBT-70 in from some Eagletacs lights I ordered. These are surely high quality of the brightest bin. One will go to

Is this brighter than the U3 dome on? Do they both generate about the same amount of heat at the same current or does one run cooler than the other?
