I want to use it without optic but lens keeps falling in.
Also, what's the white bit under the optic, like plastic disk?
I've never owned a mule. Do people use them without lenses?
I guess then if it got wet it'd break.

Mules are designed that way from the start. They have the emitter closer to the lens and the lens is usually held in place by a bezel and O-ring to be water tight.

Removing the optic from your light is not safe, as stated above. Water ingress will cause a short, damage, maybe even fire and burns. The white disc might be a centering ring and/or shim to hold the optic correctly against the emitter and MCPCB.

Leave the light the way it was designed and purchase another light designed as a mule for best results and safety. Hank at intl-outdoors.com has mule options for some of his lights.
