hello all, I am new to the forum, delighted to have found it, and yesterday purchased an Inova X5. I have just posted a mssg on the Road Star Riders forum praising the X5 and Opalec NewBeam. http://forums.delphiforums.com/1602/messages?msg=39703.1 They both make great road trip lights IMHO. If anyone here is into bikes, you are welcome over there. I know Inova is coming out with a new model, but I am searching for the current model in plain aluminum finish. Can anyone direct me to a site that still has them with white LED's? I purchased the titanium anodized model but it is my understanding that a plain aluminum is or was at one time available...Thanks.

As far as I know... there are only four models - 2 colours x 2 casings.

White LED / Blue LED
Titanium Case / Black Case

I've seen the titanium case being called everything from pewter to aluminum. I think these are all the same. But, if somebody know that they're different, please let me know!

hello,
Galivantor is correct. I have a Ti colored X5 and recently bought a blue LED X5 from fellow CPF'r. His description was silver body and I assumed it was the Ti color. Nope, when I got it, it is natural aluminum color. I would guess that this is an early model as it doesn't have the Inova name on the tail. So I have in my posession a Ti (pewter), black and silver.

Incidentally, one of the X5's that I ordered was supposed to be white LED's and the packaging confirmed white. I had bought two at the time and didn't discover until the next day (packaging in the trash) that the White LED's were in fact blue. I have since discovered that by drilling and tapping the tail cap and mounting these lights on a Loc-Line stalk with magnetic base that they are ideal for highlighting the machining area on my lathe and mill. The bright blue contrasts with the weaker ambient light and details can be seen better. Photo below:

Interesting... if this plain-aluminum model was an earlier version without th "INOVA" name - can it be assumed that it's very difficult to find?

I think the pipeline for the old style Inova's is pretty dry now and I would guess the silver model would be pretty hard to come by. You might post a WTB in the sale/buy /trade section and see if any body has one they're willing to let go. You might also contacting Inova directly and see if they can put you on a trail.

Thanks for the replies. I wasn't sure if all the photos I had viewed were showing different colors or just different lighting effects. Actually I was lucky to get the titanium color with white led"s. I got the last one at a Fry"s. I prefer it to the pics of the newer model I have seen. I really like the simple yet elegant design. Since the plain aluminum is a rare item, I think I will just be happy with what I have...
