Hallo, I'm waiting my new Xe-Ray 50 W.
Sorry but is it a "Barnburning"?
Is better a bulb 50 W 4.200 or 6.000 Kelvin?
What's the most bright?
Is it difficult to change the bulb?
I've read on this forum about a "Barnburner HID 75 W" but I can't find it, there is a flashligt on the market?
What is exactly a "Barnburner" ?
I've also read about a "Megaray" 175 W HID spot, is it most powerfull than Xe-Ray?
Best Regards
Billy

Welcome to CPF!!

The 50W is the first model they sold, and is a nice light if you already ordered it. The "Barn Burner" uses a brighter bulb, and 75W ballast, so it is remarkably brighter...and someone coined the term "It's bright enough to burn the barn if you shine it on it....shortened to "The Barnburner". I don't think the bulb color is much different between the two, but the bulbs are easy to change.

I have both the 50W which I upgraded to the 75W BB, and I have a second original BB. I'm selling one of them to the most interested/motivated person.

The Megaray and MaxaBeam are more powerful but in a tiny, focussed spot. Do a search for them....plenty of information.

Off topic-Hey Luxluthor what gives. Yesterday you said you were not in any hurry to sell, now this. Are you going to put one of the barnburners up for sale and if so how much. I'm an interested party.

On topic- The 50 watt is an excellent light and Dan at Xeray is great to work with, enjoy.

If you take your time and do not rush, it should be easy to replace. If the reflector (the sillver funnel) gets stuck, do not try to take it back out, force it in.

No hurry to sell, just mentioning it here and there. I have two versions, both give identical barn burning output. Older one has first gen circuit board which allows cigarette adapter charging, but battery must be charged every 6-8 weeks due to trickle in circuit. This has the original 50W ballast & bulb, and newer conversion to the 75W bulb and ballast.

The other is the second GB BB that has a Rev 2 circuit board which cannot be charged with cig adapter, but battery lasts about 4 months between charges.

I also have an extra battery, 2 extra bulbs, and a diffuser lens (comiing soon).....so it's kind of hard to figure out the various prices for both, and there are pro's and con's to each BB.

Lux,

How much brighter is the 75W then the 50W? Lumens that is.

Are the 75W bulb/ballast available by themselves?

Thanks

sorry but my impression is that the "Megaray 175 W" is an other planet, I'm really couriuos about it, :
1st: how much cost it?
Where is possible to buy it?
Can I tuning my Xe-Ray
like my laser Spyder II ?
I'd like a real great beam, but if is possible around 2.000 $
I've also a beam of 15.000.000 candle power but it is only a big flashlight with a halogen bulb of 130 W ( my Wolf Eyes Shark II (only 24 W HID)) make a light better than the 15.000.000 candle power.
The Megaray is it the best ?

I don't remember seeing a reliable number of lumens because there are all those issues of "bulb, torch, hotspot" lumens. There are shootout images that give a pretty good idea how much brighter the BB is over the 50W. The ballast upgrade is the 75W, whereas the bulb is the very special $125 Philips DL-50 "Fatboy" 50W bulb that loves the higher ballast wattage. The 75W XeRay BB ballast is not available from XeVision nor without a BarnBurner which you can't buy anymore.

Sorry, but where is possible to find a bulb Philips Fat Boy DL50 compatible with the Xe-Ray 50 ?
I've searched on the web but I didn't find, only a type MPXL-DL50 for 143 $ but is only 3.900 Kelvin ( http://www.bulbman.com/index.php?main_page=product_bulb_info&cPath=11638&products_id=16015 ) and is not a Philips or: ( http://www.atlantalightbulbs.com/ecart/nw012104/PHILIPSMPXLDL50.htm )
it's a Philips but for 390 $ and 3.900 Kelvin
and I'm not shure that it can be compatible.
Thank You Very Much to everybody and sorry for my stupidity but I'm new of this trip.
Best Regards

Lux, thanks for the info. I've been away from the HID scene for a awhile, so I didn't know about the 75W. I guess I'll just have to stick with my 50W CC, until another 75W ballast comes around again, someday.

The specific Philips DL-50 Fatboy are very hard to find. There was a guy who sold some from Germany I believe....and we got them in a GB from XeVision at a great price.
