Hi all, I'm working towards building a portable spotlight, using a fresnel lens. This means needing to find a very compact LED, I was originally going to use one of the very cheap 100w COB LEDs from aliexpress, but the light-emitting surface is too big, the fresnel lens would need to be giant!

I have come across the XHP70, which is quite cheap on aliexpress: https://a.aliexpress.com/_mM5DABY

My Questions:
1. Is the link above a genuine XHP70?
2. What is the best driver for these LEDs?
3. Are there any better alternatives, especially ones with a smaller light-emitting surface?

Considering that they are offering XHP90 and XHP110 as well (which Cree doesn't even make), I very much doubt that those are genuine Cree parts. It says CREE on one of the stars, but that means the star is made for a Cree footprint, not that the emitter you put on it is actually made by Cree.

There is no single "best" driver. Your choice will depend greatly on your power source, your desired output, the LED voltage you settle on, your efficiency needs, the control scheme (modes) you want, and your budget.

It's true that to get a tight beam the lens needs to be large with respect to the emitter size, but what do you mean by "tight"? Are you looking to illuminate something at 50m, or 1000m?
