Hi,
I'm trying to find out which 18650 battery to buy for my Klarus XT 11.

I'm looking for something protected and reliable that's not an AW. This is the one's I've looked into.

The Intl-Outdoor 18650 Protected Battery - 2 for $17.88
Protected against Overdischarge, Overcharge and Short-circuit
Capacity: 2600mAh
Recommended Max Discharge: 5.2A (2C)
Full charge: 4.2V
Nominal voltage: 3.7V

Cut-off: 2.75V

I like the price but only 2600mAh.

EagleTac - EagleTac 18650 3100mAh protected Li-ion - 1 for $14.90

  • The EagleTac 18650 3100mAh is the shortest ultra high cap 18650 ever made with a button top.
    Features:
    - Panasonic 3100mAh cells, made in Japan for EagleTac
    - Measures only 68mm in height (+/-0.1mm) and 18.5mm in width
    - IC protected for a) over-charge, b) over-discharge, c) short circuit, d) current overflow of 4A+
    - True button top design, fits all flashlights
    - High discharge rate 4A-5A
    - Nominal voltage: 3.7V, charge up to 4.2V, use CC/CV charger to charge
    - Reinforced steel plate bottom, highly efficient protective PCB design
  • - Packaged in individual box and anti-static bag

I like is 3100mAh but $14.90 for 1 is much more than the one before.

Are their better prices out there on 18650, 3100mAh batteries that are reliable and protected? Do not recommend AW's, those are over priced batteries.

Thanks.

You can get pair of Keeppower 3100mAh batteries for $23 from eBay (search for 280928671469 in eBay's search bar), in fact I've heard that this seller even accepts $20 offers (press Make Offer button -> enter $20).

In XT11 I use a flat top protected battery because there's a spring in the head and that shortens the space for the battery.

I was thinking of the Orbtronic 3100mAh, but if I can get 2 Keeppower 3100mAh which have similar test results I might just go with those.

Wouldn't the spring compress a bit to accommodate for a longer battery? Would it fit the Keeppower 3100mAh?

Thanks once again.

The battery stays too pressed in the tube.
Here is the result on Sanyo 18650 2600mAH protected:

If you are sure the battery is not more than 68mm long,I think will have no problem.

I would recommend the Eagletac brand. You don't want the cheapest thing around, you want the best for your money. Thats a different thing.
I switched from AW to Eagletac because of both performance and price point. Very happy with them.

I believe the AW brand to be over rated.
