Personally I find it much easier to store a battery at 100% SOC. Put on the charger, put it away. I really should buy a charger with a settable end point.

I have big "12"V LiFeP04 batteries for my trolling motors. I made a custom configuration for my electronic loads that will automatically discharge them to 70% for storage. They are a few more dollars than an 18650. Treat them well and I should get 15 years out of them. Will end up costing 1/2 the amount of the old lead acid and my back is thankful too.

I think I would still store in the fridge but keep at 80-85%. That's close enough to 100 for almost all use cases.

Most of my backup batteries are about 80%, but closer to 100% inside about 5 flashlights. I have some almost 10 year old 18650's that are doing fine.
