I have been told that without dreams, life becomes mundane and time loses its value. With Don's dreams and passion, he has kept us on the forefront of lighting. He is my inspiration and reinforces Kaizen (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kaizen) in my personal life.

With that said, my dream McGizmo light would be a LunaSunDrop 20 clicky with variable brightness settings (low and high in flood and throw).

Oops, I forgot to mention one cell (rechargeable and primary) in all Titanium with the forever timeless McGizmo Ti clip.

I'm thinking an LS20 in its present configuration, but with one more 3mm LED in it. When viewing dark items against dark backgrounds, I'm finding that I would like a hair more light out of the flood configuration.

Not really a light, but I'd like to see a headband option. Something where I can take an existing head (any PD based head) and screw it into a headlamp 'dock'.

ok, since you asked....

My personal dream McGizmo would be a lot like the Ti LunaSol27, only with the throw reflector widened slightly to match at least the throw you get from pd-20, yet in the thin remaining outer ring, the six leds used have a high cri much like the existing sundrop. The smooth flood level is reminiscent of the original Ti mule, only with the better color rendition that we've now been spoiled to expect since seeing what the sundrop can do. The throw emitter also has a respectible cri while we're at it. The head has subtle crenulations, just so you can tell if you left it turned on when it's down on the table. Piston drive, with a trit in the piston (at minimum). Single Rcr123 body standard, but an optional 18650 alternative body wouldn't be unappreciated as an add-on bonus. and as a final bonus dream frosting, a quick twist/piston-push gets a super high output virtual level from the throw emitter, which may not be practical for continual long-term use, but is available for those moments you need it (ala arc6).

If that's not the ultimate theoretical McGizmo grail, I don't know what would be. I simply can't imagine anything that could be added to improve upon it. That said, Don has surprised me/us more than once before, so this may all change when he does. :)

Big Honu, That is my predicament as well with the LS20: it's smaller mule beam profile than her LS27 brother.

My dream McGizmo is an Atwoodized LunaSol-38-PD with two flood colors a la Kroma (orange and white flood) and a 2 level center beam identical to my S27-PD.

Hey, a guy can dream, right? :welcome:

A TiPD-S with a Mule LE set somewhere in the cylinder of the head at right angles to the 20 main reflector. BH's headlamp idea rocks also.

My dream McGizmo is whichever one I have in my hand at the time. I'm not clever enough to come up with anything better.

I have a couple of "dream" McGizmo lights right now. One is a Lunasol 27. IMHO this light is close to perfect as it is. I do look forward to seeing where (if) Don choose to develop this light further.
Today it is all about power and the power spec. I am guessing that this will change when the power levels reach a plateau (hopefully in the next couple of years). Emitter companies will become free to explore the CRI spec when they reach a point in manufacturing when they have plenty of lumen to spare. There is a hit to overall output with HI CRI emitters. They need more overhead to make this work.

My Dream McGizmo used to be the PD. Just having two levels and a great beam was enough.
I believe ultimately that the Lunasol concept will take us to new and improved places compared to where we are at today.

I really would like to see the HI CRI SPEC moved into all McGizmo offerings. There is no doubt in my mind that the improvement in color rendering has it's place in the future of flashlights. Don Has led the way with the Sundrop. The Sundrops beam is so unique in that it renders color correctly. When you look at something with the snowdrop it appears as it should. I want this to be true whenever I use a LED flashlight. Right now it is not. Incorporating the CONCEPT of the HI CRI emitter into light like the Lunasol is clearly the direction I would like to see Don go in.

Don doesn't really need us to give him any direction. Have a look at the stuff he has made in the past. The one off the stuff which is not for sale. He is plenty imaginative. His ideas are plenty ahead of their time as it is. I have a feeling that given the access to drivers which other flashlight makers enjoy that Don would be cranking more lights and more interesting lights than he is at this time. Don is a flashlight designer not an electrical engineer. Clearly the relationship he has enjoyed with Wayne is not as strong today as it once was. As a result Don will have to look further afield for driver technology. It wouldn't surprise me one bit is Don either went with drivers which are an old school approach simple efficient non PWM drivers. IMHO advanced functions (multiple levels, strobe and other "features") don't really Belong on Mrgizmos lights as they are today.

A driver designed to give more dynamic range and possibility the use of the two levels independently of each other (HI on the Lunasol engages Low at the sale time) in a Lunasol would be welcome IMHO.
I hope that the people which Don chooses to work with to create new drivers can handle the old school yet efficient and flexible needs of Don's end users.
I suppose that Time will tell.

yaesumofo,

I haven't been around this forum long, but I can say I always look forward to reading your posts.

Now about my dream McGizmo....At this point, my dream McGizmo is simply a LS20. I was so close to catching the next wave of those, but my dream turned into a prolonged nightmare that will hopefully have a good ending.

I never imagined that I would be willing to spend $500 on a flashlight. Especially for what I would be using it for. I should be content with my E1B, but their is obviously a lot about these lights that make them desirable. I'm really looking forward to seeing what lights Don dreams up over the next few years. The only bad thing is that I know I will end up spending more than just $500!

Lot of the lights i dreamed of and haven't thought of yet Don has made or close to releasing. He has designed them to the umpteen level of solid build. Next to SF his is the most copied. Most important to me he has acknowledged that his lights will be modified by others to suit the owner's desire just like how we customize our cars. Just try the latter with other builder's lights and prepare for more than dirty looks.:scowl: With that said my dream McGizmo will have a set of custom rims for starters:nana:

My dream flashlight would be an LS27 with the Atwood anodize job,
and RGB LEDs in the ring (with R, G, and, B continuously variable, of course).
With polychromatic strobe.

Would that be a Kromasol?

If we're wishing....
I would have a over/under setup with the CRI on top and Twin Golden Dragon"s below. I would like it in the SuN DRoP host. Don while your at it ...make me two!!

A TiPD-S with a Mule LE set somewhere in the cylinder of the head at right angles to the 20 main reflector. BH's headlamp idea rocks also.

Beat me to the punch. Something of a Zebralight / Ti PD-S hybrid. I would add that it would be ideal for me if both light sources could have an independent high and low levels.

This would be tough to do, but nobody asked if I knew how to do it... just what my Dream McGizmo would be.
