Early morning dog walk Tucson, AZ

He's not wearing his mid-day booties that protect his feet from the hot pavement, so the morning walks are more joyful for him.

On one project I worked on the building next to the project office had been built on fly ash, which is burnt coal ash from a nearby power plant. The ground the building was to be built on was a swamp so they removed a few feet of mud, filled it with flyash and built the building on top of that. It was a common practice in the 1990's.

Now, the power company would scrub coal resin off of the chimneys using a soap and the resin would be randomly added to the pile of fly ash. The soap would later react with the fly ash in random fashion and cause it to swell. So some buildings built on top of fills with flyash would shift in weird ways. Ways that would cause structural integrity issues.

The folks that moved a lighthouse at the outter banks of NC were brought in to move the office building in order to dig out the flyash.

The building before.
All siding was removed.

The moving company was dispatched to stabilize the building from the second floor. The first floor was then removed.

Once that was done the building was now on gigantic skateboard bearing looking rollers and tugged about 50 feet in stages by small loaders. One of the two is in the photo.

Once the building was moved they removed the flyash and decided to dig a basement. Not seen is to the left they built a basement.

This week the building had not been moved back. The owner is this rich dude that you'd never know was a multi-multi millionaire by looking at him in his v-neck t-shirt and work pants attire. The plan it for he and his sons to rebuild the first floor once the building is moved back to it's original spot and suspended over the basement.

One day I asked him why. He said "because I want to". "Wouldn't it have been cheaper to tear down the old and build a new one?" I asked. He said "well yeah, but this is more fun".

The building is now suspended over the new basement and soon it will be raised higher and a floor will be built between the what will be second story and the basement.

So at the over crowded shelter ole Penny wouldn't shut up. She complained constantly the ways dogs do. Yelp, yelp, yelp ahhh-ewwwwww yelp, yelp, yelp. They by law had to keep her there for 10 days in case the real owner enquired about their lost dog. Ten long days for all involved. After the ten days they deemed her unadoptable and were going to put her to sleep. But first they called another group for help.

That group knew she was a good dog based on word from us at my work. They had her for a couple of days where she just laid around all sad, sad, sad. So this one fellow stepped in and said "let me take her to my house and see what happens". Within hours she was a happy camper.

These guys asked "can we adopt her? please, please, please, pretty please with bacon on top?"

Took this photo out on the open road driving interstate 5 yesterday. At the Tracy junction is a Camper World that flys Ol' Glory.
Flag measures about 30' x 50' some days she's stretched straight out..
This area near the bay delta is windy 24/7

I'd surmize the camper world building is about 10-12' tall. The tiny objects looking campers some 8' tall.

My guess those motorhomes stand approx 12-15' .. and the building height close to 25'

I own an 8' step ladder, it's stands about height of a travel van?

My house flag measures 3x5ft.. I guessimated that flag is 10x in size.

Whatever the exact specs, that's one big a$$ flag! 🇺🇲

The stray dog I mentioned before is now living at the Fixer home.
She arrived last evening. After a brief introduction things went surprisingly positive, suprisingly quickly.

Top photo is her discovering the back steps lead to a door where the people live.
Bottom is her and one of my other dogs sharing water from a bowl after playing chase me for 30 minutes.
