Yes, and yes they do. I believe it's considered a somewhat 'symbiotic' relationship, and I think there are several types of woodpeckers who peck on them for insects (which I believe is beneficial to the plant), and feed on the fruit in Spring (which other birds do as well), and some definitely nest in them. I have some photos, but am unsure of their location at the moment. I believe one of the most common types in my particular region is the 'Gila Woodpecker', and that's likely the type I have photos of, so if you g-search that, you'll likely find better photos than mine anyway;-) I've noted that the doves love to perch on the Saguaros in late afternoon and are quite defensive of their spot against other doves (no, they're not always 'peaceful' at all BTW), but there seems to be no friction at all between the doves and the woodpeckers regarding the territory. In that case, I guess 'birds of a different feather' do hang out together! I love the Saguaros, and when hanging out amongst them, I feel 'at home'. There's nothing quite like the sound of the wind whispering through those needles and folds - except for hearing the symphony of being surrounded by a whole group of them! Unfortunately I have no audio;-) BTW, note the nest holes in some (most) of these:Are those Saguaro cactus? I heard there's a lil woodpecker bird that makes a home in them.
One kid dressed up as a kangaroo. Shoved all his candy in the costume's "natural" pocket. 😁As a kid I always wanted to dress up as a Saguaro for Halloween. With a few sharp spines to keep the older bully's away. But where to stowe my candy stash 🎃
Many years ago we were visiting the Sonoran Desert Museum and saw a couple of these standing just outside the entrance, watching people go by. We locked eyes for 15-20 seconds and then they turned away.A pretty girl I met in the desert once. I'll just say the whole meeting was extraordinary, unique, and 'memorable', and thus this photo is also. It's one of many I shot over ~20+ minutes, but is my favorite memory of the occasion.

Flyover pictures of a bridge project I played a small role in some years back.
The old bridge rotated 90 degrees to let sail boats pass. They pass under the new bridge.
