head mdc cr123 with 2AA host = ok
because each AA is 1.5v
2x 1.5v = 3v

head mdc cr123 with 1x 16340 or 1x 16650 or 1x 14500 or 1x 18650 = NOT ok
1x 16340 or 16650 or 14500 or 1z 18650 is 3,7v
3,7v > 3v

Yeah, I am getting it now. The issue I was having is the Malkoff website is all over the place. They really need a better naming convention. Like MDC-A for 0.8 - 1.7 volts, MDC-B for 2 - 3.2 volts, etc.

Anyhow, just got off the line with them and all is good.

Thanks!

Bump for old/new MDC1aa
The guy that started this thread sold me the 1-2v neutral MDC head with a stainless bezel ring a few years back. I swapped it to a Klarus P1a at times but recently decided to give it its own body. Glad I did.

Now, was there ever a time these started on or about 3.0 lumens, not 0.3? I ask because

Left is a gen 2 Elzetta Alpha on 7 lumen low.
Right is the MDC 1aa on low/low.

Actually I kinda like the way Gene programmed it to change output based on the "on time". I use that as a memory feature to get it to start on the middle output. (I call it medium but the official name is low.) So when I'm done with it, I turn it off and half press quickly to get it to start on medium later. Eh, it takes practice but it's easy enough. Plus it allows for morse code with practice.

I may take the clip off and use the holes to thread a wrist strap through it but that could lead to a water intrustion point.

L to R
Elzetta G123, 0.5 lumen lo/lo
Elzetta G AA 1.5 lumen lo
Malkoff MDC AA 0.3(?) lumen lo
Elzetta Alpha 2nd gen 7 lumen lo.
