I recently bought my first G2z and am very impressed by this light. I have quite a few surefires and 2 G2's so I was already familiar with Nitrolon's strength and resiliance. The G2z will now be my EDC on my Duty belt as I believe it will be slightly more useful than the E2e I have been using to date. I have had to remove the rubber grip ring on my G2z as it would not easily withdraw from the nylon holster. I dont find this a particular issue as I have found that the 2 rubber spacers can still be used for grip rings. Overall this light seems to be ideal for using at work as it combines utility and strength. If any one has any other comments on this light good or bad please let me know?

I'll probably sound like a broken record for saying this, but the G2Z is the best bang for the buck Surefire, IMHO. My only wish is that it have its own clickie switch. I wonder if Surefire will ever make a KL series light in Nitrolon.

The G2Z has displaced my tried-and-true 6P as my belt-carry EDC light. It's really the ideal light for my purposes, which includes both utility and personal security. I'm currently using a Ripoffs CO-30 belt clip holster. It was tight at first, but now that it's broken in, it fits quite nicely. True, the grip ring doesn't make it the easiest thing to withdraw, but I'll live. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

The G2Z is the last bulb flashlight which really impressed me. I agree, it's the best bang for buck SureFire - so feature rich - and so tough!

Somebody once commented that the G2Z was the new M2. I'm tempted to agree with that.

its got grip rings so that puts the G2Z in my favoured-lights category /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Skyline, you like it better than the 6P becuase of the tactical grip to it or what?

Is the G2Z any better than its metallic twin, the Z2?

Some really like the grip rings. Does it really make it that much more functional if the purpose is other than using a firearm?

Constructed of Nitrolon, a corrosion-proof proprietary polymer that absorbs shock more efficiently than aluminum, the new G2Z shares all of the best features of the best-selling Z2 CombatLight, yet is lighter and more water-resistant.

The G2Z has two more feature that the Z2 doesn't:
Pyrex Lens
Choice of Black or Olive Drab

I really like the CombatGrip - I find it makes the SureFire easier to handle giving a wider range of grip options - also, it's easier to keep hold of a CombatGrip model in my experience (although they come with Lanyards as standard)

The G2Z gets my vote over the Z2.

A few reasons...

a) Lighter, so it doesn't drag my pants down as much /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
b) Shock resistant
c) Pyrex, melted my 6P lexan lens once
d) Combat grip

The M2 has all these features except the weight. So yeah, to me, the G2Z is the "new" M2. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

the only surefire lights i have now both have grip rings (C2 and M3). instead of relying on the knurling on the body to ensure a good grip, a grip ring actually provides a physical obstruction which prevents the light from slipping out of your hand. with the grip rings i can also hold the light in a sort of pencil grip which is easier on my wrists, in addition to the combat grip which does not require you to contort your wrist at odd angles to direct the beam up or down.

IMHO, grip rings on a light with a rear push-button switch is a must! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I've got a question about Nitrolon...is the ENTIRE light made of this plastic? If so, how would the threads (screwing on the bezel and tailcap) work? If that is plastic, wouldn't it be kind of...cheap? I've never really considered SF's Nitrolon products because I always thought it was just a euphemism for cheap plastic...but the cost and features of the G2Z is kind of luring me in...

I have a question for you guys ... is the only substantive difference between a G2Z and a G2+G2Zbezel the availability of the Rogers grip, or are there other advantages with the G2Z such as water resistance at the tailcap or anything else?
As I train with my lights for defensive handgun use, I find myself less and less enamored with the Rogers grip. I'm finding I like to go from Harries to [either Rogers or neck index] to freeform FBI style, depending on the sitch (what side of the door am I pie'ing, etc.). The thing is, Harries, neck index, and FBI all use the same grip, and Rogers makes me change grips ... as such, it's starting to disappear from my toolkit. This might all change as soon as I take my next ITTS class.

I do, however, still love Rogers grip for just everyday flashlight usage.

G2Z has LOTC. With my G2Z, the ring doesnt bother me if carrying the conventional way because it goes between my ring and middle finger.

LOTC is useful. Okay, G2Z wins.

IMO, the only competitor might be E2e+Nascar's mod, but that doesn't allow Rogers, and might not be as impact resistant as the G2Z.

The entire light is made of Nitrolon, but the body has a metal tube lining the inside, and this tube wraps right up to the edge. As such, there is metal-metal contact for the tailcap switch to function. I was mightily impressed by the use of a full tube rather than the typical long thin metal strip you might find in a cheap flashlight.

I avoided getting a Nitrolon SF for the longest time because I too thought it would just be cheap, especially compared to SF's typical overengineered aluminum tanks. However, the G2Z feature set was too enticing to pass up, and I'm glad I tried it out! Nitrolon doesn't feel any where near like a cheap plastic light. Although it's plastic, it exudes quality.

You won't be disappointed!

HOLD EVERYTHING!

Calling the G2z a "plastic light" is like calling the glock 18c select fire machine pistol a "Plastic Gun".

the g2z is a work of art in that it packs so much of the best SF features into an affordable lightweight package.

imho it is the epitimy of surefire

fins like on the m3
pyrex like the elite and millinium series
lotc like all good little sf lights should
hex bezel
combat grip
R capable
LED capable
lanyard
nitrolon that IS SF

a bit on nitrolon:
flame resistant
deet resistant (i think)
shock resistant
cut resistant

WILL YOUR "PLASTIC" DO THAT?

and no, the g2z is not my favorite surefire nor the best.
