Good evening,

I just picked up a great old user 6p. The lens is in great shape but has a "melted" center spot. I cannot feel it with my finger but I can see it. I've done the perfunctory CPF search through Google as well as a broader Google search for a replacement lens kit. No luck. Anyone have a source for them? I saw that Oveready had them at one point but not now.

Thanks.

Check the marketplace, or LPS-Tactical. There website is kind of dated, so just shoot them an E-mail, and they should be able to hook you up. They aren't far from the SF factory, so they actually have a lot of old stock on hand.

Work case, just hit the lens up with a light coat of glass frost, and call it a day.

Thank you AOW. I did check the MP- several dated WTB's but nothing current. I'll check LPS-Tactical momentarily. Point well taken on the glass frost. If I can source a kit I wouldn't install it right away anyway. More of a future install as ground work can takes it's toll on a light lens.

Flashlightlens.com is a good source. I'm not sure if they stock the 6P lens. You could check. I've also seen them on fleabay.

Flashlightlens.com sells lexan lenses, but I don't know the size you need. They have quite a few sizes. Also I found one z44 bezel on fleabay by entering "lexan Surefire." It does not appear to be the original bezel, but.... it has a lexan lens.

Good morning HotWire- I think I'm about to learn something! I've been under the impression that I am looking for a specific, flexible lens that bends enough for me to be able to "pop" it in using the supplied little bushing- one that's unique only to the earlier 6p's that don't have a removable bezel ring. I thought the lexan lens was something different altogether...................

Thanks for the reply.

If you find a source for lexan lenses of a size that fits the old Z44, please post it.
I tried to get one of these from SF ~ a year ago but no luck.

I d ask at SF-dealers, mybe one still has the set lying around

(but would not yet do anything and probably it is never needed. Except for a little bit of "melting" in the middle, nothing else happens)

The Z44 will be a hex bezel with a glass window retained by a ring. FLL does sell various "plastic" lenses (it's been a while since I was there), but they don't show anything that fits the pop-in 6P/etc. original bezel. Overready had a bunch of those until 6-12 months ago and claimed they'd gotten the last of SureFire's inventory. At some point, the original bezels are either going to have to be replaced with a Z44 or the user will have to try polishing out the scratches (which probably isn't going to work very well and will damage the ano unless done very carefully...
