Hi all,

going to treat myself to my third flashlight. I already own a keyring thrunite ti and a fenix tk41.

I decided I am going for a 18650 powered light to keep the size down. I have no other specific requirements other than reliability/ well made, nice spread of throw and spill.

the lights I have listed above give you some idea of the was I have reading about.

will be used mainly for walking the dog and around the house.

any positive or negative comments about these lights or any other 18650 powered light.

budget around £80

thanks for your help

Why not get your third, fourth and fifth flashlight and get one of each.:)

How about the Sunwayman V20C.

● CREE XM-L LED, with a lifetime of up to 50,000 hours;
● Digital Sensor Magnetic Control system - slightly twist the Rotator Ring from left to right to select desired mode from super-low current standby, output ranging from 0.5 to 438 lumens, to strobe function:
Max: 480 Lumens (2hrs)
Min: 0.5 Lumen (120hrs)
Strobe:
● Standby current is 50 μA when the light is at OFF mode
● Constant current circuit, constant output
● Effective range of 300 meters
● Uses two 3V CR123A batteries or one single 18650 battery
● Working voltage: 3~8.4V
● High quality reflector maintains great throw distance and spread with an ideal beam pattern
● Dimensions: 134mm (length) x 32mm (head diameter) x 25.5mm (tail diameter)
● Weight: 120g(battery excluded)
● Aerospace-grade aluminum alloy
● Military Specification Type III- hard anodized body
● Waterproof, in accordance with IPX-8 standard
● Ultra-clear tempered glass lens resists scratches and impacts
● Tactical forward click switch with momentary on
● Tail stand capable- can be used as a candle
● Accessories: Metal tactical ring, lanyard, holster, O-ring, rubber cap

wedlpine: Thank you for highlighting that line in red. That'd be a deal breaker for me. Looks great aside from that one thing. I'm one of those that hates removing batteries or a tailcap so my power supply isn't dead when I need it. Parasitic drain offends me as much as self-discharging batteries. WHAT TO DO??

Is the Z600 is the Zebralight SC600?

That's a very floody light, VERY useful for a EDC light in a non-tactical setting. You can't see much more than 50-60 yards or so, but w/in that range, you see a LOT.

The Klarus XT11 is a workhorse. VERY tough light, with a strong floody beam, plus the ability to ALSO run on CR123's, RCR123's and an 18650. Its best for a tactical use, as it come on in HIGH for that reason (Tactical UI). If you like coming on in high, then its a great choice.

The Predator is a great light too, very tough, and with some strong beam CHOICES. You do have the ability to customize it, but, you have to be the kind of guy who reads the manual and WILL program it, etc. There are also LED choices, based on if you want mostly distance at the expense of flood, or visa versa, etc.

Thanks for that Teej. I did mean the zebra sc600. I think the predator is abit too much for me having thought about it. Im now considering the sc600, klarus xt11 and the pd32ue. It's mainly going to be used for walking the dogs in the park and all things around the house, garden and garage. I know all of them will do a grand job, but I can't help been fussy:twothumbs.

I have the Sc600w - the neutral version of the Zebralight, and the XT11. I also have dogs! I find the XT11 a little too fiddly - for me it's hard, in the dark, to find the (small) mode change button on the tailcap alongside the on/off clicky. It also drops output significantly after 3 minutes (5 minutes on SC600).

The UI of the Zebralight is pretty straightforward; just hold the side button until you get one of the three modes you want (though each can be individually set). Strobe is well hidden - doubt if you'll need that, but the XT11 has it as a main feature.

Bear in mind that the SC600 mark ll will be released very soon, with a new emitter, battery check, and more settable modes.

You mention a budget in sterling, so I guess you are from the UK; these lights are considerably cheaper if imported.

How large a light makes sense for you?

The SC600 is teeny, the XT11 is ~ 5"-ish and the PD32e is ~ similar to the XT11, but IIRC drops to only ~ 400 lumens after a "burst mode".

I can't say the UI on the XT11 is "fiddly", given its only two buttons, and one is raised and the other recessed, so I can't see why any one would find that a problem...(Obviously, SOMEONE found it fiddly :) )most of the LEO I know chose it BECAUSE its so simple and intuitive.

I still think the SC600 might be best for you though...given your described use. As the 900 lumen version is on the way, I'd wait a smidgen, and get it then.

:D

Here's my take on those three you mentioned:

Z600 - good general purpose EDC

XT11 - good tactical light

ArmyTek Predator - good thrower

Thanks all, great input:).

Right after lots of thought and I few more ideas I have come down to the zebralight sc600..... New version.........or the fenix pd32ue.

The zebra is around £80 to £90........ I can get the pd32ue for £60.

I'm treating myself, so the extra £20 the zebra cost isn't a deal breaker. Both sound like good lights......mmmmmm might hold out for the zebra........depending how long the wait will be though........the tint on the pd32ue looks nice though.

I've thought about importing one, but I'm not too sure on import tax charges etc......I looked but got a bit confused,,,, not my strongest feature....

Anymore thoughts.......
