Hello!

Now that the SC60 has gone on sale, which is a much better buy for EDC? The SC60 or the newer SC80?

Depends on your personal wants/needs. The sc60 will have better run times and be a little brighter. The sc80 will be a little smaller and easier to pocket than the sc60. That's not saying that the sc60 is a pocketful. I own a sc60 and it is a breeze to EDC. It is by far my smallest single 18650 light. I do not own a sc80 because I own a few of ZL's AA lights and have no use for cr123s.

I see, thanks for the insight. I did want a light which could run on a 18650 which has a low low-mode, and of course the excellent runtime and was not as expensive as the SC600. I guess the new sale price of the SC60 might sweeten the deal more.

This used to be the ZL's flagship model a few years back, right? (Before the coming of the XML's)

Yes, it was their "largest" light before the sc600. It basically is a slightly smaller, dimmer, sc600. The emitter is newer in the sc600 (but that doesn't make it "better" as that is subjective, IMHO. The sc600 also has the newer switch to help prevent hot pockets but the switch that the sc60 sports is OK by me. A quick tail cap spin and I've never had an issue. The UI is the same so functionally they are similar. If ZL were to make an updated sc60/sc60w with the new switch, I'd be all over that like white on snow on a paper plate in a blizzard.

So, it is worth it? I mean getting the SC60 over the SC600? Should I just suck it up and pay the extra $'s for the top of the line model?

i have the sc600 and dont regret it.the massive output on turbo makes it stand out..

IMHO, no. The extra lumens are nice but the smaller form factor of the sc60 is more important to me.

You've got a point there, why sacrifice the size of the SC60 for the big light of the SC600 if you already own lights that can rival the SC600's output? Nice idea! 🙂

Hi roadkill1109. Not sure what your tint preference is, or even if you have one, but the little SC60w is one sweet light. I have several ZL's, including the SC600, but the SC60w is probably my favorite. I just love the how ZL does warm tints. Getting ready to order my 4th SC60w! That will make me 3, new in the box, in case the one I'm carrying now ever gives up the ghost. You simply can't go wrong with the SC60, or SC60w. 18650 is my favorite form factor because of the super capacity available in these cells. I won't even try to talk you out of the SC600, because it is also a really great light for it's size. Hell, I'd even suggest you get both! lol But if you're set on only one right now, grab an SC60 or 60w, while they're still available. You won't be sorry! Good luck!

I have an SC600w on my wish list, but I'm not in a hurry to get one. I have an SC60w and it's a wonderful little light. The smallest 18650 light I've ever seen, and I love the range of brightness on it, from the sub-lumen moon mode to the full 270 lumen turbo mode. Pocketability is also important to me, and I also love ZL's neutral tints and their consistency, so that's why I went with the SC60w.
