HI, My name is John, and I\'m a Flashlight-aholic....

Currently have 27 LED flashlights in the other room to give as Xmas presents. I personally own 12-13 different LED lights, and 10-12 regular incandescent flashlights. Guess I like flashlights.

Question: The technology seems pretty equal in the SureFire and Streamlight line, ie, the Scorpion and 6P/6Z both run for about an hour with comparable light output. You can only get so much energy out of the cells used. Yet I just read about a TACM III light with 2 Lithium cells, and they claim 105 Lumens (SureFire 6P is only 65) with a 1 hour and 20 minute burn time. The 6P with the P61 claims 120 Lumens but only burns for 20 minutes. How the heck does the TACM get an hour and 20 minutes off a set of batteries at 105 Lumens, or are they full of you know what with their claims?

Welcome John. I see like me you're not sure how many flashlights you have

I know i hav more than 3 Mini-Mags and more then 3 Pelicans but I can't seem to find them.

I'm not sure about the TACMIII. I have a SF 6P, UKE 2L and plan to get a Scorpian. I won't have a TACM in the near future to compare side-by-side. I think dano is the man to talk to. He might have one. He did wrote a very nice lithium power flashlight review a while back on another forum.

LOL. OK, let's see how anal I really am........ I'm gonna count them..

LED lights.....
3 Streamlight Stylus 3, one in shirt pocket at all times, one in computer bag, one as spare just because I like these a lot
3 Photon 2, one on keyring, one on desk, one in truck center console
2 Lightwave 2000, one in truck, one on nightstand
1 PWL-3, in computer tool bag
1 Trek 7 (CC Expedition), on table at home
1 LEDLight 6 LED mini-mag style light, in truck
2 LEDCorp TurtleLite 2, at home, bedroom and kitchen
1 LEDCorp Original TurtleLite, at home in computer room
1 3 D-Cell Maglight with LEDCorp replacement focusable LED
1 Princeton-Tech micro light (like a Photon 2), on desk with second Photon 2
1 PAL Gold, at my mom's
17 LED lights total.

Regular Flashlights
1 3 C-Cell Maglight, in the garage
1 4 C-Cell Maglight, in the garage
1 3 D-Cell Maglight, in the truck somewhere
1 4 D-Cell Maglight, in the camping stuff
5 Mini-Mag AA lites, all over the place, kitchen drawer, living room, nightstand, toolbag, used to love these before LED lights came out
2 Streamlight Stinger, one in truck on charger, one at home on charger
2 Streamlight Scorpion, one in truck, one next to guns
13 Regular Flashlights total

In the other room, as Xmas gifts I have:
23 Streamlight Stylus 3 LED lights
7 Photon 2 LED lights
2 TurtleLite2 LED lights
4 LEDCorp Mag light replacement LED bulbs

And last year I was so anal, I gave about 15 LightWave 2000's as gifts. They were one of the best LED lights I could find at the time, what with having 4 LED's and all.......

Hi John,

Welcome. The only way to get off your problem is to wean yourself off slowly. Hmm... I guess you'd better buy your next few lights one at a time!

In re the TACM III - it's a pretty darned good light. I'll give you a more thorough review another time. IMHO, SureFire products are much better engineered and designed compared to Streamlight's products.

John,

What is the difference between the light given off by the LightWave 2000 vs. the Expedition?

The Expedition is a bit brightr (in intensity) and it is about twice as big of an area that is lit up. The Expedition also has a smoother beam and it looks closer to "white" in color.

Okay, I'm a Flashaholic or "Torch-Freak" too.

Here's my list:

SureFire M6
SureFire M3T
SureFire M2
SureFire E1 (gun metal silver)
SureFire 12PM

Pelican StealthLite 4AA (black)
Pelican StealthLite 4AA (orange)
Pelican MityLite Magnum 2AA (black)
Pelican Super MityLte 2AAA (black)
Pelican Super MityLte 2AAA (yellow x2)
Pelican ProLite 4C (black)

PhotonII (turquiose LED)
Pulsar (white LED) - I think it's a Pulsar or Emissive Energy... Has a grey rubber grip squeeze which can be pulled open. slightly larger than a PhotonII

I have some other flashlights I think. These are the ones I can find and are on my desk right now. I had to hunt and raid...

The First Rule of Torch Club is;
"No-one talks about Torch Club."
The Second Rule of Torch Club is;
"No-one talks about Torch Club."

I get this at work, but they come to me for a flashlight.

I still think the Lightwave 2000 is a good all-around LED light though. Uses cheap double A's and has good enuff light from those 4 LED's. I bought 10-12 last year for Xmas presents when they were going for about 22 bucks each. Good deal compared to today's price. The Expedition is one of the brightest LED lights out there right now, but they're not all that inexpensive. I think everyone needs to have at least one of them laying around.
