    Question McGizmo-creations All owners poll

Let's find out how many people out there are McGizmo Flashaholics. How many complete lights do you have that are a creation of McGizmo?

Having a complete Aleph2 and owning a A3 head would only count as one complete light unless you also had another LE, body and tail.

No need to post, Just vote. Unless you want to share your McOne-offs or come out of the closet about your collecting McHabits.

About 25, roughly speaking. It is a bit difficult to count due to the modular Aleph stuff though ...

There is a type of perfection that transcends the quest for lumens. Buying a $250 1-cell light for "lum factor" is like buying a $250 single malt Scotch for the alcohol content.

I had more than I have now
So I have 6 nice complete creations from Don (build by him), and I am waiting for one more
I don't count all heads and mods I have on my surefire, longbow, aleph etc..
I don't count all nice alephs and other flashlights assembled by other than Don .

I started off with two McGizmo built lights, but then began building light engines myself. Now I have:

    Light engines:
DB 1000 UWOK (lives in the A3 with UBH)
    DB 917 TXOJ
    DB 500 TWOH
    DB 500 TYAH
    NG 500 TXOJ
    NG 750 TV1J
    NG 288 TXOJ
    WIZ2 1000 TXOJ

    Heads: A3, A1, A2x2

    Bodies: CR2x1;two CR123x1;three CR123x2; UBH CR123x3

    And thats after I lost a A2/NG750 TWOJ/1xCR123 light.

I feel like I can put together a light to fit almost any activity

Sadly, none. Too poor for nice stuff like McGizmo. Maybe some day after the kids are all in the Corps, or something...

Interesting little story. We used to have a member here who would post not all that often but his posts were intelligent and he was one of the early members. He bought a few lights from me and included were a couple of the L1-PR-T DB917's. He also got a X200-PR-T DB917 or maybe it was two. We exchanged e-mails and ended up speaking on the phone a couple times. In our last phone conversation, he told me that he had decided that he was not the flashaholic that he thought he was. He figured that his flashiholism was essentially fueled by his search for the ideal flashlight for his purposes. (He is a homicide detective). He told me that the L1 PR-T DB917 satisfied his needs and that he found he was no longer interested in CPF. He hasn't posted now, to my knowledge, for a few years. I am extremely flattered that a mod I did satisfied his quest but on the other hand, I miss his presence on CPF as well as the occasional phone chat.

There are better, brighter and more efficient lights out now but realistically, many of the lights we on CPF have now moved past are more than adequate for their intended tasks and useage.

    Don,
there is only one light that I own that has the same beam as the L1-PR-T DB917. and it's NEWLY modified PM6 with a superconverter 1000mA. but it lacks the feel of the L1 body, the small reflector head (PR-T) and the two stages of light. Until I got the PR-T I was on a quest for the best throwing LED in a small package. The quest is done and the wallet will recover after I I get my leather sheath made.

Thanks Don even though I wasn't around for the begining of these masterful lights I got one in the end.
