PF,

According to my chart, F Vf is 2.55-2.79V. Direct drive on a primary 123 will hopefully "sink" the 123 to close to this voltage. Just for giggles, I may order a couple! I have a modded L1 head DD with McR20 on an E1e body with a H2GH. (200-260Lm :D ) Insane bright! I've tried it on an R123, and insanely brighter!

Larry,

Thanks for catching that! Of course the H refers to the color code, not the Vf code. I knew that. :huh2:

Darell: Wow, 20 R/O? If those are all aimed at one spot, whoever is on the receiving end is in for a world of hurt!!!
F Vf is cool, my 1Watt r/o is F, and on 2.4 NiMH it draws 350ma, and alks a slight over drive. I wonder if 2 alks could DD this luxIII at 1amp or more though.....

I have a G2FH in a Sam's Club Element and it is HELLA bright!

I mean... really... it's ridiculous.

I have a G2GH in a 2D Maglite direct driven with two alkalines that draws about one amp initially so this F bin should be close to 1400ma spec with two alkalines.

I suspect that two high-draw NiMH cells will drive this close to spec as well. I have a few Powerizer 3300mah sub-C NiMHs that are good for 30+amps draw. This means they are very low internal resistance. They also maintain their 1.2v potential at high amp draw.

Hey Fred, I'll take two! Thanks.

Have you just tried replacing the star without changing electronics, Cromag?

I know we are all about bigger and better and faster but I would think it would be more than impressive just stock... at least enough to tide you over.

Good idea but I think mine is a modded DD. It's gone throug many variations over the year... I'll have a look and see, but it makes sense what you're sayin' :)

Q3R DD meaning 3.6 volts? That's WAY too much for a red led, you need a resistor limiter at minimum.
