Pelican PocketSabre 2c to LED Mod ???

I've recently acquired a new Pelican 2c incandescant light and am curious what I can do to improve the overall light. I want to go to an led with an overall higher throw and output. I want it to be a Luxeon III or V. I want AA rechargeables or more let me know.

I have been thinking about modding a couple of these myself. I have one blue that I was thinking of putting a SMJLED into and one orange that I was thinking of putting a t-rank r/o 1 watt luxeon into, both as direct drive lights for long runtime. Seems like they would make perfect work/hurricane lights.
