Its one of my favorite images. Pssst, dont tell, but I "borrowed" it and used it as wallpaper for a while, its just unreal how powerful that beam is. My jaw just dropped when I saw that, very nice photography BTW.

AndrewWynn is working on a short arc projector light thats portable with 3000W, roughly triple the power you see in that photo, called Oscarbeam. He'll get to making it go around summertime 06, then there will be more shots like that one!

It was designed for the M60 tank BEFORE night vision became common.

I think it also had an IR filter avaliable.

please be kidding.... cosctco HIDs are rebadged thors that look nothing like that. I remember a little while back someone had a tank searchlight that was pretty damn bright.

Now that night vision is common, I would still like to use one of these 1kw tank lights if enemy forces are scoping us out with night vision. :cool:

Can anyone say major retina searing (even without the night vision!)? :D
