What are the different series of Fenix lights? How will P or X be better than the L series? When will the P and X series be available?

I have a theory what the letters stand for. :grin2:

The L series is to "Lure" us into the Fenix line.

The P series is to "Propagate" the market.

The X series is to "eXterminate" all remaining competition.

my guess is that the X is a highpower flashlight, 3 or 5w in a nice format running on 2 C-cells :)

Hopefully:

A pocket-compact 18650 recharchable 2-stage 3 or 5 watter while retaining candlestanding ability and rear clicky. Also adding subtle non-protrusive anti-roll design.

I am really anticipating a 3 watt 1x123 light from these guys. If they got the Fenix L1p that bright on a AA, a cr123 is twice as powerful (i am not sure about this statement), so they should be able to double the output and throw (in theory).

L = Lux 1
P = Lux 3
X = Lux V

It is more difficult to guess the power source they will use.
If what I infer from looking at the L1P and L0P, I guess Fenix will fullfill the most hidden desires of us flashaholics. So, no 123s.
On this line of tought an alkaline C cell, with the proper designed boost converter/sync rectifier coupled to a low Vf Lux 3, can drive it at 600 mA for 1 hr. This is my guess for the P series. The reflector can be made big enough to compete with the super LED throwers, like the McLux.
For the X type of lights, I am uncertain. One C cell can drive a LUX V at spec for 15 minutes. It may be possible to squeeze out 50 minutes of runtime off two C cells, but the X series could well be a rechargeable light driven off a 18650 or from other Li-ion cells.

Just my tought

Anthony

I hope they make a 123 light to get more power.

I like a properly designed C cell light. They are small enough with sufficient capacity for definite mission carry, work, tool box, car, camping & emergencies. C cells aren't too popular at the CPF but a case can be made for their use.
