What current are the LEDs driven at?

This is a ReAlY sweet light! My dream light, actually. I'm glad it went up for sale just after I left for work--a lot less mental anguish! I'll have one, yet.....

LZ,

Your Karmic reward for sharing your 2-stage Kroll switch mod for the SF3 has arrived. Your chance at an Icarus creation like this is a big part of that reward. You were in the right place at the right time. I have an Icarus TriLuxIII light (FatMag 2C) that sets the standard for true practicality in my "stable". It is brighter, whiter, with a freakishly huge center spot (cant really call it a spot) than most all my other LEDs, only the gargantuan ELX-6 churns out more light and is several times the mass and size. Its the first one to reach for in everyday situations. Icarus TriLux designs feature absolutely impeccable workmanship and excellent performance, notably the totally seemless blending of the three beams into one even, spreading object of photon lust... OK that last part was over the top, but suffice to say the man is an artist and you got yourself a signed original. CONGRATS!!

Trashman,

Get ready to sell a (who needs 2?) kidney. There may be MORE on the way, you can never tell. I've panted over one since the first sales thread some months ago, missed out then as well. Nonetheless I persevere....

Can they be driven harder, or would that be just too much heat?

They can be driven harder but then you'll get too much heat and limited runtime. At 500 mA you get a good balance between output, heat and runtime. The light that's emitted by this "beauty" :naughty: is really amazing for such a small light, even at 500 mA. :)

What kind of runtime does it get like this, and what would it get with a higher drive current...say 667, or 750ma?

Runtime of "The Beauty" (on high) was 41 - 45 minutes on 2x AW R123's (750mAh) and 75 minutes on 2x Pila150S (1000mAh).

Given these results, estimated runtime at 667mA would be 30 minutes on 2x R123 and 56 minutes on 2x Pila150S.
At 750mA it would be 27 minutes on 2x R123 and 50 minutes on 2x Pila150S.

Hi Icarus,

I didn't read all the posts in the various threads, but couldn't tell if your 4-led Mag bodied light(s) are for sale. Are they?

Best to respond directly to me at [email protected]. Thanx! Lee
