THG have really went to the extreme this time around.
Take a look at their Fanless/Pumpless System Cooling

Anyone here thinking of doing the same for your trusted PC?

I wonder if the computer is on, would it be enough to heat up the oil and do some cooking—like lumpias? He he he. . .

There have been a number of "total immersion" testbeds. I remember that some industrial freon-like compound was found to be ideal. No evaporation, non-conductive, did not facilitate unwanted capacitance, etc.

It cost a bit more than cooking oil, but was transparent, about as dense as water, and not prone to fouling.

You really should use transformer oil. Cooking oil goes "Stanky" after a couple of months.

Florinert is the best to use, but at $500 a gallon it is reserved for psychos and high end computers such as the Cray-II.

Saphire was an intresting alternative, but it evaporates at a low tempreture.
