All SX1J and SX1K's are gone.

The SXOJ is gone too.
I now have no more. :sigh:
S = 51-67 lumens at 700 milliamps.
XO = Nice and white at 700 milliamps. A little blueish at 1000milliamps.
J = about 3.4 volt rated at 700 milliamps.

Will work in a 3 cell magmod with a .33-.47 ohm 2-5 watt resistor added to the circuit.

Found some more used and working SX1K stars.
I now have 10 total.
$3 each.
$12 for 5
$23 for 10

3.6 volts at 700 milliamps is actually 2.52 watts outputting around 60 lumens.
That's around 23 lumens per watt.
For a lower rated bin of led, that's pretty good compared to a glass bulb.

Can't believe nobody else wants these guinea pigs yet. :candle:
And most of these do indeed look better than dingy, amber regular bulbs do.
Luxeon3's (yes these too) do the best job of making it to 100,000 hours of use compared to other white leds.
These have each had less than 100 hours of use each.

Hi, do you have any white LEDs left? I'm looking for some very small but very bright LEDs. Something along the lines of a Nichia Jupiter. I'm trying to make my own super bright reverse/parking bulb (T15/168/921/912). Thanks

Might could be done.
These are Lumileds stars that are about 3/4 inch in diameter.
With a downboy 1000 from the Sandwich Shoppe,
12 volts going into 2 SX1J's ought to do nicely with that bucking regulator.
The stars will need to be mounted to something large and metal with computer heatsink adhesive. (metal bumper or framerail perhaps?)
Then encase the led stars and bucking regulator in a waterproof transparent, or translucent cover/housing.
A light like this may come in useful, for illuminating a blindspot on the passenger side when backing in.

thanks for the advice, I'm a complete novice at electronics but I'm fed up of reversing in poor lighting, so I'm determined to build my own super bright bulb. having done a little homework today I figured the nichia jupiter is probably the best size to work with especially as they are seriously bright. I didn't know what the SX1J was but 3/4" is a little too big to fit in the bulb housing. The OEM T15 bulb is only about 1/2" in diameter.

I don't think I need a cover for them as it will sit inside the reflector housing in my rear light clusters. Thanks again! :thanks:

Awesome!

I went ahead and wrenched open a couple of lights and found a few more cheap stars for you guys to tear up.
The SX1K's actually look nice,
while the SX1J's look more like oatmeal barf when lit.

Geologist,
I only have 2 SX1K's.
If you want a 3rd led, I can toss in a TX1K star for $4 more.
Same voltage and tint, it would just be the slightly brighter one.
