The battery;
One panasonic cr123 lithium 3 volt.
Luxeon1:
A bright green S3H
Luxeon3:
TXOH white.

I'm getting 170 milliamps through the S3H
While the TXOH is getting 340-360 milliamnps pushed through it. :huh2:

Reason I bring this up is that my Orb Raw came with a RWAH that just didn't seem as bright as I had expected. :awman:

Seems that the TXOH is in reality a close equivilant to an RXOG, or even an RWOG as the tint shifted a bit warmer with the underdrive.

Which leaves this:
Why go with a ***H bin Luxeon1 when a ***H binned Luxeon3 seems to make for a very simple cr2, or cr123 batteried, ded simple, direct drive pocketlight? :p

It all depends on the forward voltage of the H bin,
From what I recall, a ***H bin is 3.03 to 3.27 volts so your LuxeonIII is probably 3.05-3.08 Vf and the H bin LuxeonI is more along the lines of 3.20 to 3.27 Vf. A 0.1V drop in Vf can change the load to the LED by 100mA so a few tenths of a volt make a big difference.
My WX1S LuxeonV pulled 700mA at 6.10V dropping to 50mA at 5.6V. I think it pulled 1000mA at 6.35V so current regulators are good things.
