Hi all,

I want to make a night-vision-safe red LED flashlight. From reading around, it seems 650nm is best, longer is OK but is harder to see, shorter might mess up vision. Ideally, I need a reasonable throw and flood, say enough to reasonably light a room, or view the end of a corridor. Light will be dimmable for closer work like reading.

Does anyone know of any particularly good ones?

I have found some at http://www.roithner-laser.com/ but they are *serious* money!

Shame the red Lux is 620nm.

Cheers,
FoxyRick.

Lumileds dont provide peak wavelenght, only dominant, but Luxeon red are 625nm dom and seems about 640nm peak (from spectral distribution graph).
