What's your favorite dreamy music? Best chill artist?

I like:
Sling Blade soundtrack *Daniel Lanois*
Mazzy Star
Bill Frisell (W/Paul Motian)
Swayzak (Snowboarding to Argentina)
Some Miles Davis stuff
Bill Evans (Live at the Villiage Vanguard)
Pink Floyd "Echoes" "Animals" "Shine On"
:sleepy:

I'm also a Pat Metheny fan. Love the early stuff, like "Bright Size Life" and "Watercolors". Also Gary Burton "Passengers", one of Pat's first albums.

I like Enya. I've always liked Enya. Back when all my friends listened to Metallica and Iron Maiden (and heavier stuff) they made fun of me for listening to Enya. Her music is quite relaxing. Just got her newest CD which I'd peg as her third best behind Shephard Moons and Watermark.

In a similar vein is Lorenna McKennitt (sp?). Wonderfully produced music... incredible sound quality but she takes herself a tad too seriously. Imagine if Enya tried to sound more epic.

But mostly I like the party music of Jack Johnson, John Mayer, Ben Harper then into contemporary vocal jazz of Norah Jones, Jane Monheit, Holly Colem Diana Krall... and Some mild electronic stuff like Enigma, Amethystium and some Delerium. I can chill to any of that, depending on my mood.

You'll either dig this kind of music or hate it...at least that's the reaction I get in person. I find it total chill.

Music for Airports by Brian Eno

Three A.D. various artists on Waveform Records (www.waveformhq.com)

Zero One by Zero One

Dream Theater - Stream of Consiouness
Dream Theater - Dance of Eternity
Ratatat - Seventeen Years

All Dream Theater songs will let you just sit back and listen to the music. No lyrics in the top two, and both are in excess of 8 minutes or so I believe. The last one, Octavarium, does have words, but is 24 minutes long, so a lot of just "sit back and listen to the awesome guitar, bass, keyboard, drum and singing talent time."
Dream Theater is my favorite band...

Can you say mini-fabio?

Edit--
I don't own and will never own any DT, but have seen them live several times. Oh joy! They're on tour now. Looking forward to another DT presentation.

Dream Theater is just so talented. I can just sit back and listen to that and I will feel better. Their songs have more meaning than most radio-rock nowadays. Octavarium has so many tempo changes, its enjoyable to just listen to that...

And yes, they most definatly are on tour. I was debating going to NYC to see them there as they record a new DVD and CD, but decided I really shouldnt. They have not yet annouced a date in Texas, but am confindent they will :D or so help me...

Ozric_Tentacles if you like something thats a bit off the wall :naughty: . Colorstar, again a bit on the psychadelic side, but definately influenced by Floyd. Bit more middle of the road Zero 7 - Simple Things, a superb chill out album!.

Mazzy Star

I've been a Mazzy Star fan for years, definitely qualifies as some of my favorite chill music. Don't know if you're aware, but Hope Sandoval released a solo album called "Bavarian Fruit Bread" in 2001. A bit softer instrumentals, but basically in the same style as Mazzy... Recommended.

You might also check out Emiliana Torrini's album "Love in the Time of Science."

The only stuff that I can think of that I own here is some spyro gyra, and some tracks I downloaded legally. I almost bought Brian Eno's Music for Airports, but for some reason didn't.

Anyone heard of Demulcent Records? They're a Christian Electronic music label.
