Can the wimpy uk 2 aaa be modified?

I own four of the uk 2 aaa lights, and their output is pathetic, so I'm looking for suggestions on how to improve them.

Otherwise, I'll be giving them away.

I've never tried them, but primary lithiums would probably brighten them up a bit, but again, I haven't tried them.

I think the plastic reflector and lens would preclude a considerable improvement.

I heard someone modded the UK2AAA eled with a brighter LED, perhaps an mjled or something like that.
