XBOX hard drive on a PC

I was out of "disposable" hard drives so I obtained a 10 GB HD from an XBOX and tried to use it for my PC.

I'm well aware that XBOX does not use the same disk layout nor partition types but I figured that fdisk from an Ubutnu Linux installation cd should be able to do its job anyway. It wasn't. I just got an error message.

Has anyone here tried it, or has any suggestions?
I'm thinking about finding an old MB that can low level format the drive. (Why did they stop adding that feature to new MBs anyway?)

raggie is correct. The X-box hard drive is locked. To the specific motherboard of the console it's in IIRC. You'll have to unlock it in order for it to work in a PC. I don't remember the method. Just do a search for it on google, or for x-box mods.

Darn!

I don't have an XBOX and certainly not the XBOX that the drive came from.
I'll have to go hard drive hunting now...

Thanks anyway!
