Actually, I have two LED UPEs that I want to build, but I'll start with this one, an EDC light for me.
*2x123 main power, rechargeable option nice but not necessary.
*Smaller head, maybe Aleph 1 size.
*Maximum output. Throw more important than large pattern.
*Decent white color light.
*Two power levels; battery life at least 1hr/4hrs.
*Tail switch (see below).
*Pocket clip, bezel-up carry.
*Regulated output if this doesn't reduce output or add much to size.
*Natural or black color, HA-III.
*Rugged, "drop-proof."
Obviously, this sounds quite a bit like the SF L4, but I want lots more output and throw. I like the size of the L4.
As to the tail cap, I like the clickies but want the dual output. I don't see why one couldn't build a clickie that screwed in or out ~1/2 turn to select output.
I've read a lot on the custom forum and am thoroughly confused as to electronics (e.g. regulation) and LEDs. So I'm hoping that you guys out there who know abt. this stuff can make good recommendations. I don't want to do any electronics work myself.
This may be a very common light. There may be other features I "need" but don't know about, so give me your suggestions!
Cost doesn't much matter.
