I'm pretty new to all of this, and I'm about to buy my first "expensive" light. I've been considerig the L1, among others, but was wondering if there is a mod to give the low beam on this light a little more power, say 3-5 lumens. Any ideas?

The only advice that I can offer is to get one of the Surefires that has a reflector rather than the optic. The lights with the optics have a beam that is all concentrated into a hotspot with little to no sidespill.

Other than that, 3-5 more lumens might not make that much of a difference. If you really want to be able to customize your light, I'd go for an E2e, and then get other parts for it. Maybe even Aleph parts. For that matter, you could just buy an Aleph light from the start.

If you can get into the tailcap(requires cracking open the epoxied retaining ring) you can replace the stock resistor with a 10ohm one.

Sengoku - that's along the lines of what I was sonsidering.

Chop - Like I said, I'm pretty new to all of this, what are some good sources for the Aleph parts and lights?
