U2 tailcap interchangable with other SF lights?

My U2 tailcap is broken and while waiting for a replacement from SF, I tried to fit my G2s cap, but the U2 tube wont accept the metal button from the G2s tailcap. It looks like the U2s tube has a ring preventing this exchange. So any thoughts as to why this is? will any other models cap fit?

The U2 tailcap is a Z59 . I belive a Z41 tailcap from a 6P will also work .

I was in the same situation.....

The cap i've eventually got from Surefire works great on my U2 and i'm happy...

However, the 'old' one...which didn't work properly on the U2 fits my C2 Centurion perfectly and allows me to use that flashlight with the benefit of the clickie on-off..instead of the twist...

The C2 is far easier to use now...:wow:

My G2 tailcap fits my U2 quite well, except no constant on twist mode, just momentary on. I added a small O ring to the top of the tailcap rubber piece and it works perfectly with the U2.

Any tailcap that can fit the 6P should be able to fit the U2.
