Tonight I took my light cannon and M6 with
me for a walk out on the back bay to test
their throw , my dogs and I were having a
nice time when a man on a bicycle drove up
with a c2 and an 6p and an d3 with turbo
head plus a e2 prototype . He stopped and
inquired about my flashlights and when I told
him what they were he said that he worked for
surefire and that they had an HID lamp module
for the M6 but that It wasn't for sale .
I sure hope their gonna see this one thru .
I live in Newport Beach which is just a few
miles from SF headquarters in Fountain Valley. Just thought I'd let you all
know .

You're Moderator and Administrator have bleeding lips.

How many of us would it take to storm SureFire to get at these goodies contained within? We'd make certain that the Institute was all out at a company darts evening at the Local, and that Ken was out of the Country...

WOW - what a small world it is !
Even in this world of lights !!

Torcher,
was the guy wearing a clown outfit or something ? If not, then that's the real deal !!!

But you wouldn't expect the *little-known SureFire LLC* to be far behind the competition. Now that there are a few instant-strike HID's already on sale, it was inevitable that SF would bring out their variation.

Reading behind the lines and following the hints on the SFDB, there will be a few surprises for us all at SHOT 2002.

This is just the kind of thing I love about CPF ......

Torcher,

Did the SureFire employee give any hints as to the specifications or release date on the M6 HID bulb? Also, the proto E2 that he was carrying......did it look like the E2 Elite?

Hum..... when I asked the folks a Xenonics about a less expensive version of the Nighthunter-II, you know, without taking a second mortgage, his reply was "Soon..." I asked Shoot 2002 soon? Summer soon? or next year soon? His reply "soon".

With the M6, and Xenonics "soon' to have lights that never before been seen, I have to beleive that recently there have been major breakthoughts in this technology

Incidentally, anyone know of other HID flashlights, apart from the LC100 and Nighthunter. I know there are a few HID cycle lights.
Are there any hand-held "non-lantern" things ?

sorry to say I didn't get any more info than
that . We only spoke for about 30 to 40 sec.
it seems , He had two of the lights mounted
on his handlebars and he pulled the C2 and
the M3 I forgot to mention out of his jacket
pocket . The E2 proto I noticed (on bike)was
I believe two tone , with a non anodized
body and probably a millenium green style
head . It was dark so I couldn't say for sure, and I have never seen the e2 you mentioned . Sorry ! But be sure to check
out PK-engineerings website for some awesome
beam pics and proto pics of Surefires .
You won't find the HID lamp though . I guess
we'll just have to be patient and see what
happens in the new year

Torcher,

The man on the bike you've met is my fearless boss, Dr. John Matthews.
Of course, after I read your post, I had to fabricate a new bike gear for him.

Boy oh boy ! I never would've guessed that
he was the head cheese . Kudos to Dr. John
for not blurting it out for egos sake . It
would have been nice to know who he was at that time though , so I could have formally introduced myself and congragulated him for all the neat lighting tools he and the Surefire team have brought to the table over
the past few years . Maybe I'll run into
him again one day out on the bike trails
while I'm testing out some new light lover
gadget .

I may be introduced to the Doctor himself!
The Gods of Light... (not that I'm in awe at all) Will I fall to my knees and burst into tears?

I may well be speachless - and then faint.

Al

(I'm being serious)
